I already paid for my room reservation, why does the hotel ask for my credit card again?

The amount charged to your credit card on the confirmed reservation is for reserved rooms. Some hotels will require your credit card details again upon check-in in order to guarantee for other possible expenses i.e. telephone, Mini Bar, etc.
