Convenient overnight rest between flights

by H M Rawson from Canberra, 21 May 05

Convenient to airport.
Simple check in so get to room quickly
Staff keeps out of the way unless requested for help
Quiet so can get a good sleep, the main reason for using the hotel between flights with a 12 hour or so gap.
Good and trouble free breakfast
Can book over the web simply and conveniently.
Only minor problem is using the card key which requires the correct timing between entering and removing to operate the catch. Simple, but annoying when tired after a long flight.

Did the job

by Miss Cora Townsend from London, UK, 10 Jan 06

I booked the Amari Airport simply because I needed a place to kill 6 hours between flights and this is the closest hotel to the airport. I didn't have high expectations because I had read bad reviews regarding check in/out procedures and how overpriced it is.

However I have to say that I had absolutely no problems checking in or out, the standard of the room and pool, dining etc. seemed fine to me and I don't regret forking out that little better extra so that I didn't have to leave the airport. Having a few hours by the pool, a decent meal and a hot shower before my flight home was exactly what I wanted and exactly what I got!

The only thing I will say is that it took me a while to find it. It's not very well signposted until you get to Terminal 1.

Good location

by Arianna from Italy, 13 Jan 06

The location is very convenient and even if the hotel is so close to the airport, it's very quiet. We suggest to ask for the rooms in the main building, because the other ones are pretty old.

Would return if the details of your confirmation were more specific

by irvine vohs from London, 30 Jan 06

There was a confusion as to how long the room was reserved. Your confirmation said 21st-22nd January-however the hotel told me that the room was only reserved for 6 hours i.e. from 12:00-18:00 on the 21st and I had to pay a supplement ($72) for a later check out that night which was very disappointing.

Kickk

by Natthawut Maliwan from Germany, 9 Feb 06

First of all I must say that I love the swimming pool there, especially at night. It's really romantic and beautiful. And last time when I was at the swimming pool in the evening. It was totally empty.

The room is so clean. That's actually normal for a five stars hotel. Well it's just comfortable to stay in the room. The room is simple but nice.

Expensive convenience

by Anonymous User from San Francisco, CA USA, 29 May 06

Very expensive for what it is. It's really the location you're paying for ... being a 5 mins walk to the airport ticket booths is very convenient for late arrivals/very early departures and short stays, especially when you're unfamiliar with Bangkok. You can even roll the airport carts for your baggage to the hotel.

If we didn't have that much luggage (and weren't nervous about missing such an early flight that runs only every few days a week) I would probably
book a better hotel further away but on the train line. Traffic can be horrendous for a taxi. For the price of this hotel you could live very grandiosely further away.

Great option for

by Anonymous User from NY, 13 Aug 06

Considering BKK's traffic, you HAVE to stay here if you have an overnight connection. Our flight was at 10:30 am. We got up at 7:30, had a very leisurely breakfast and checked out at 9:10. Plenty of time to make our flight!! Rooms large, clean, renovated. You can see its not a new, cutting edge hotel, but it doesn't need to be. It's expensive by Asian standards (especially Thailand) but its worth the convenience. I'd rather pay more and not deal with the tension of racing to the airport at the crack of dawn. Your other option is the "day room" service in the airport which is completely decrepit (we got stuck there once - horror of horrors!).
