Great location. Clean rooms. Nothing over the top but affordable and comfortable. Check in staff friendly and helpful too. Easy distance to shops, trains and airport bus. Good local eateries all around.

A little old but worth the price

by Chris from Frankfurt, Germany, 5 Jun 05

The Bangkok City Inn has become quite old. It has been a really good hotel long ago. Now it's a good place for a cheap stay. The location is great: near World Trade Plaza it is in the middle of one of the main shopping areas in Bangkok. Siam Center is as close as the Pratunam Market where you can buy cheap clothings. The breakfast is really no big deal. It's a buffet with toast, coffee, marmalade and some fruit. Also you can have Thai breakfast. The staff is helpful and friendly. All in all the hotel is worth its price, but if you look for real good comfort and service search for another hotel :)

We stayed for 1 week and found it to be very central. The staff were great and the breakfasts were terrific. Great value for money, clean, no smells and very comfortable.

Fabulous value for money!!

by Violet King from Spain., 18 Sep 05

Fabulous spot to stay. Good food. Service with a smile from the staff. Value for money is amazing. Fabulous place if you want to tear around or just relax and be lazy. It didn't have a pool when I was there so I plan to go back again in 2006 and make the most of the changes.

Not expensive, but very functional, clean and a lovely place to stay.

Great value

by Anonymous user from USA, 16 Nov 05

I've probably stayed here a dozen times over the past four years, so I obviously like this place. Simply put, you get real value for your money. I have to say, I can't think of any major complaints I've had here, which is why I keep coming back.

The breakfast is more than adequate, the staff is professional and the rooms are very functional and clean. Of course, the best part is the location. Outstanding. You are in the middle of a major shopping area, with plenty of cinemas and shopping malls, etc. And it's nice to be so close to a new Big C. The Skytrain is a short eight-minute walk. While there are tons of nicer hotels in BKK, I don't know that you'd get better value.

Will return again!

by Wong from Singapore, 27 Nov 05

Room is simply furnished. Good for traveller who just need a room to sleep at night after a long day out. No hair dryer in the room. Housekeeping also have none to provide. Hotel rooms installed with flat 3 pins electrical wall socket which is not suitable for most countries and the hotel do not have any adapter to loan. Breakfast spread is small and changes everyday which is fine for a small hotel like Bangkok City Inn.

Will consider to stay on next visit because of the GOOD LOCATION.

Will be our choice for the next trip

by Lim William from Singapore, 12 Jan 06

My family had a week's stay and was very happy with its location. Although it's a lane from the main road, it's brightly lighted. Night bazaar and shopping centres like Pratunam Center, Platinum Mall, Central World, Siam Paragon and Big C are just 5 to 10 minutes walking distance away.

Our room/toilet is relatively clean but the bed is rather hard. There is a slight unpleasant smell in our room. Could be from the carpet. Breakfast is pleasant and main dishes changes daily.

On the whole, I will classify this hotel as value for money.

Robbed in my Room!

by Anonymous User from Sydney, 6 Jun 06

In April 2006 I was robbed in my room at the Bangkok City Inn. The hotel offered no assistance. I even had to walk to and from the police station as I had no money and the hotel staff wouldn't even phone the police for me.

When the police investigated the hotel had "lost" the security video and lied to the police about me. (They said I "often" stayed there and "always" took prostitutes)

I do not recommend this hotel!

Cockroach infested hotel

by Elly from The Lion City, 3 Aug 06

If you are looking for a cheap hotel in a good location, Bangkok City Inn is it. However the rooms are terrible. While Deluxe and Standard room differ in size and amenities with most hotels, BCI's Dlx and Std rooms are actually the same. If you had booked a Dlx room, the receptionist merely calls the maid to 'convert' a Std room to Dlx by adding bed cover, an additional set of hand towels and a fruit platter.

All rooms do not come with tissue, kettle, conditioner, safety box and hair dryer. My friends and I were horrified when we checked in to room 812 to see cockroaches running on the bed cover. We complained and the maid arrives with a big bottle of insecticide to spray the room. Viola! within seconds a whole nest of roaches were seen scrambling out from hiding, they were all over, under the beds as well as on the headboard! We changed rooms to the 6th floor, which, though no adult roaches were sighted, had nymphs running on the bathroom sink. I will never return to this hotel even though it's cheap and convenient.

Staff can't handle phone messages

by William Ellis from tampa florida usa, 4 Dec 06

I really like this hotel with one caveat. Friends tried to leave messages 5 times (they speak both Thai and English) and only got 1 message through to me (and that was not very well recorded either.) The other times they hung up on them, for no apparent reason. So if you need to receive messages when you are out of the hotel, this may not be the hotel for you.
