Hard to find this kind of hotel in Bangkok

by Elizabeth from TX, 24 Nov 05

The room during stay is excellent, clean, comfort and convenient, it seems to be just renovated. The food is wide selections(good food). The staff is excellent too if we compare with some other hotel in Bangkok, helpful and very kind to me. WIFI Hot spot all rooms which made me easy to talk with my daughter in States.

The swimming pool is quite small but anyway, we have a place to breath in the center of this city. I'm absolutely come back here next time.

Improved by Recent Renovation

by Aron from Taipei, Taiwan, 13 Dec 05

I last stayed at the Bossotel in 2002 while attending a friend's wedding. Since then, the lobby, hotel restaurant, bar area, business center and spa have received a total "boutique hotel" makeover, and give a great first impression upon arrival.

Apart from a new carpet, the rooms upstairs seem little changed (just as small and utilitarian as before), however, and more in line with the low nightly rates. With both the Saphan Taksin SkyTrain station and the Chaophrya River Central Pier just a five minute walk away along the wide alley behind the Shangri-La Hotel, I only stayed in my room to sleep and shower anyway.

If you do want to hang around the hotel, try the two-hour Traditional Thai massage available in the very classy second floor spa for 500 Baht.

Can See Room for Improvement

by Mr. D from Texas, 26 Dec 05

I thought the hotel's buffet was really dull, and what their kitchen passed off as Pad Thai was sad. The hotel WIFI was pretty weak, though I could send and receive email just fine. Even after talking to the front desk, I only got lukewarm water from the shower of room 608. The bathroom walls were also thin enough for me to hear the kids in the room next door pretty clearly.

That said, I always had a good night's sleep at the Bossotel. My room was clean, and the location's really convenient. Getting to the river boat pier and the Sky Train station took no time at all. Since the hotel's near the terminal station for that line, I bought a Day Pass for 100 Baht every morning, and took the train everywhere.

Along Charoen Krung Road at the end of the block you also have the Robinson Department Store, street vendors selling Thai snacks, and several convenience stores open all night. Even closer to the hotel you'll find lots of tailors, as well as a few massage shops that charge a lot less than the Bossotel Spa.

Too bad that all the room prices will go up by 40-50% in January. For what I paid this month, I could put up with the hotel's drawbacks. Unless the money from that price hike goes into fixing up the rooms, though, I'll probably stay somewhere else on my next trip to Bangkok.

Value for money

by Komi from Singapore, 26 Dec 05

The rooms are comparable to a five-star hotel. Comfortable beds and really zen-like design all over. Spacious bathroom area with a big tub. Staff are polite and their spoken English is good too. No miscommunications happened at all! There's a very friendly person at the travel-desk too.

Breakfast selection was standard. But I saw a small cockroach climbing over a piece of bread on the first morning. =_= Kinda scared me. I kept to the hot food like rice, noodles, porridge. The food tasted good and fresh though. Quite value for money if you minus off the cockroach incident.

The only problem I had with Bossotel is the location. Although it is located near the BTS, it took a good 10 mins walk. Not a bad walk as one can appreciate the market and stalls by the street as one walked. But the coming back to the hotel was a nightmare. No taxis want to go near that area, including Shangri-la which is located at the back of Bossotel. So if you are planning a late night out, better book a taxi with the hotel to pick you up from wherever you are. I waited for 30 mins and asked at least 5 taxi-drivers, at the Siam MBK area before one was kind enough to send me back to Bossotel. The reason? They find the roads too jammed up in the riverside area.

And please do not take the Tuk-tuk because the prices are ridiculous. Unless the Tuk-tuk offers a price of lower than 100 baht, do not accept. One Tuk-tuk driver quoted 200 baht for a trip from Central World to Bossotel. Daylight robbery! I'd rather walk to Chitlom BTS and take the train back...

Other than transportation, no other reasons not to stay at Bossotel again. =) It is really value for money given the standards of their rooms and the service they provide. If they could have a shuttle service to Siam area, that would probably encourage me to stay there again. Otherwise, I'm going to keep to the Siam or Sukhumvit area. Less hassle with taxis.

Excellent hotel

by Cohen K. from NY, 14 Jan 06

Very lovely boutique hotel interspersed between big names such as Shangri La and Oriental. Check in was very smooth and efficient despite 7am check in. The Deluxe room which was provided to me did not have a view so asked for a change which was promptly arranged by hotel staff to an excellent room 403, could not complain about it.

A very spacious King size Bed along with huge bath and shower in the room, with a well stocked mini bar. Breakfast was buffet style which was a very good spread indeed. Positively recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a reasonable price within walking distance to the river taxis and BTS .Good location of hotel making it convenient to get around the city also nearby Robinson Supermarket which is within short walking distance. Will be a return visitor to this hotel, that's for sure !

Loved the place!

by Josephine T. Sanchez from Philippines, 19 Feb 06

I liked the place because the location was quite near to all like the river cruise and the sky train, market and mall as well. The only thing I disliked is that the taxi drivers do not know the place. We had to tell them that it was near Shangri la Hotel . The hotel's location was not in the map.

Very nice little gem

by Alessio Irrera from Nottingham United kingdom, 4 May 06

Very good service, especially the restaurant. Great location, very close to the river boat station and the sky train station. Unfortunately the walls that separate the rooms are paper like and we could hear everything was going on in the room next to ours (and i really mean everything!!!!). Nice swimming pool and decent gym, good spa services, recommended the facial treatment.

Disappointed of staying

by usawan from thai, 28 Dec 06

We feel sorry for ourselves to book this hotel for full payment before arrive, the pic looked fine on website, but in reality, the room furniture are old, and not that clean enough, noisy from a/c. When we asked the receptionist to give us other room. They could give only the smaller room at the corner, and still noisy the same from a/c. When we asked from upgrade to superior room. They tried to charge us double price when we checked out, the staffs not helpful, and unskilled of dealing with customers. They told us to contact the agent by ourselves, not with their hotel itself.

Definitely worth another stay

by Michael Seah from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, 29 Jan 07

Stayed for 2 nights (superior room) from Jan 24-26, 07. Doesn't look very good from the outside but most importantly it is very good on the inside. Great value for the price.

Relatively close to Skytrain and Chao Phraya River ferries. Only problem is it doesn't have parking space for my rented car.
