Got to pay for fresh towels!

by Jocelyn from Singapore, 8 Apr 06

I love the rooms and recommended a lot of my friends to Centre Point Petchburi. It has been my 3rd time staying there myself and as with previous stays, rooms are big and clean.

However, this time round I encountered inflexible and unhelpful staff! I called housekeeping for fresh towels the night before I was supposed to checked out and nobody picked up despite numerous tries. Finally I called the reception and when the call was finally picked up, I was told that I have to be charged 100 baht for my request. When I explained that my towel have dropped in the bath tub and I am willing to exchange my towels for fresh ones, he still insisted that I pay the charges. He said that they only allow 2 fresh towels per room per day, for any extra fresh towels, I got to pay. For a hotel standard, that's totally unacceptable. 100 baht is not alot, however, the attitude of the staff spoiled my whole impression and experience with Centre Point Petchburi.

Our Opinion

by Mark Bibiana from hong kong, 8 May 06

The poor side restaurant offers good food and good environment for the guest. However, in the guest room, the low stone barrier at the bottom of the toilet door may cause guest to fall accidental if she or he don't pay attention so suggest put some sign to remind the guest or the hotel may consider remove the barrier for user safety. Thank you

Peaceful hotel

by SIM KAY CHENG from Singapore, 22 May 06

Overall its a beautiful hotel situated in a convenient yet peaceful location. The lift needs some upgrading because the current system is very slow, wasting quite a lot of the guests' precious time.

Other then this little hick-up we are very satisfied with the hotel. Will definitely give it our consideration for the next trip planning.

Good comfortable place

by Philippe L from Fr/Vn, 22 May 06

We enjoyed our 2 nights stay in CentrePoint Petchburi. The studio is large and the kitchen is very convenient. Especially for us to prepare the meals for our baby. I was a little surprised to see that CentrePoint charged me for the baby cot.

One of the elevators was under maintenance so we sometimes had to wait a little long to get an elevator. Another bad surprise was that Central World Plaza was closed and it will only reopen in late June... But it's gonna be bigger! So we might be back in Center Point Petchburi in July for more shopping!

My family holiday to Bangkok

by KHOO VAN MINH ITINA from SINGAPORE, 22 May 06

Breakfast was really good & fresh, it was never out of food. Room was very comfortable & I could even step out to the small balcony attached to each room. I didn't expect to find a little pantry although I booked a twin room without kitchen.

This is really value for money as Pratunam has so many food stalls & shopping for fashion. Very convenient to take a taxi too. But every time I take a shower, the bathroom floor is so wet. At first I thought the bath tub leaks, but after inspection, I realised it is the water that leaks from the shower onto the side of the tub & down to the floor. It is time the hotel replaces the shower. Guest might fall & hurt themselves on wet floor.

Only 2 lifts were working & they are extremely slow. Is the hotel doing something about that ??? Other than that, I like the hotel room. There is the facility floor which has its own laundry area, gym, poor, restaurant, tour agency etc. I will stay there again if the lift is upgraded.

Preferred Choice

by Anonymous User from Southern California, 31 May 06

We arrived at the hotel at night it was a bit hard for the taxi driver to find. The name of the hotel is called Centre Point Q House, but when we were looking for Centre Point Petchburi. The name Petchburi does not appear anywhere. It's just a little confusing. You also don't see the hotel entrance. All you see is the guard shaft and the hotel sign. Something to watch out for if you're arriving at night.

The hotel is conveniently located where all the shopping is. It's bit of a walk to the skytrain, but not bad at all. If you like foot massages there are 2 shops right next to the hotel. I've been to both Lavendar, which is across the street from the hotel, and there another one right next to the hotel, but I don't know the name of that one. The Lavendar place was much better. I had a room with a kitchen which was great for chilling my fruits and bottle water. Breakfast was delicious, a lot of variety. I also booked a tour through the hotel. The tour was awesome.

I will be back soon.

by LiZ-Zee from Singapore, 5 Jul 06

Stayed from 16 to 20 June 2006 in a Studio with Kitchen. A room worth my money spend. There ain't many selection of TV channels. Clean and bright and windy as I was located on the 16th floor.

A more or less 10 minutes walk to the Ratchathewi BtS station. Diagonally (a stone throw away) to Pantip Plaza or well known as IT Mall. A&W, KFC and food court also in the building. 5 minutes walk along side from IT Mall is the Platinum Fashion Mall.

Around the hotel with a walking distance and along its main road is the Pratunam market where vendors starts selling their stuffs from morning till 8 to 9pm everyday.

Opposite the Pratunam market is the Pratunam Centre. Never believe what you see in the map for their distance. Always venture it as it may be near than what is printed on the map.

Advice for those first timer to Bangkok...try their Tuk Tuk. Get drivers who willing to bring you to your destination and no where else. As some of the drivers will always try their best to sell other destinations around the city to you. Going to MBK is advisable by BTS or Tuk Tuk.

Try avoid taking the taxi during peak hours as destination from MBK to the hotel and vice versa is considerably near and it will be a waste of time and money to spend if you are caught in the jam. Nearby the hotel there is a Swensen, 7 eleven and Burger King.

Lastly if you intend to have a late check out, have it secured fast so that you wont be left wandering around with luggage before your flight.

Cool 2nd Time Try

by Jennifer Tan from Singapore, 5 Jul 06

This is my 2nd time staying there!!! Bringing a friend with me and when she step into the room, she just say WOW, it look so clean and big!! and most importantly, we arrive at midnight and the reception there is very helpful!!

Breakfast there really improve a lot and also the room service!! Its good and I would really recommend anyone to stay there!! There is room service every morning!! I stay there for four days. The counter staff is great and helpful, always helping us. And you can even borrow DVD from them to watch. Coffee and tea is always ready there for anyone to drink at the reception section!!! which is good!! The view of our room is great as we are on the 20th Floor!! Cool!! Security is good also!!

The only thing is not so good is the elevator/lifts, it kinda small and too much people using it, we had to wait for quite awhile.

But overall the stay in there is Great!! Will be going back there soon!!

I'll probably give Petchburi another try.

by Shirley Chan from Singapore, 22 Jul 06

Likes:
1. Front desk was helpful but are not exactly jumping to serve you when you approach them. The bell boys and security personnel working at the main door of the service apartment however were EXCELLENT!
2. Rooms are HUGE. Very spacious. We were given two double beds when we only requested twin beds although there was some kind of mix up about the room we were supposed to be allocated. (read dislike point 4)
3. Excellent location. Plenty of shopping right at the doorstep, plenty of eating places, skytrain station is nearby, no lack of taxis or tuk tuks around the corner.
4. It is excellent value for money.

Dislikes:
1. Considering there are a total of 3 lifts in the building servicing 30 floors and at any one time at least one of more lifts was out of service, one has to be prepared that one will not get anywhere fast.
2. More could be done about the cleanliness of the shower curtains (which had mouldy bits on it!!) and about the few tiny ants (but they are harmless) crawling in the toilet and even on the beds!
3. The tiling of the shower tub was broken. There was a slight risk of getting your feet sliced on the broken bits if one was not careful.
4. Was initially given a double room although we made a point of making sure we booked a twin room. Better communication between the booking agency and the service apartment is needed and staff at the service apartment should have been apologetic about the mix up when it was proven on our booking voucher that we had specifically made that request and not make it sound like it was the consumer's fault that the request was not passed on to the service apartment.
