Homebase

It means something if people always go back to the same hotel, now for about ten years already. Great breakfast, nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I would say, try it one time, and you will see that I'm right.

Highly recommended
by Heather from England, 9 Feb 06
The Italian Restaurant serves better pasta dishes than the Italian restaurants in Italy. Well worth a try.
The pool area is thoughtfully designed and you could spend several hours there having a snack and a drink at yet another restaurant or beside the pool.
We have tried four hotels in Bangkok and this is the one we will return to.
There is a pedestrian crossing just outside but watch out for motorbikes.
It is convenient for a bank, '7-11' store, the train a nearby night market and also a pretty park.
We always stay 'room only' in Thailand because there are so many good inexpensive places to eat, 24 hours a day, everywhere. But we were told by other guests that the breakfast at the hotel was excellent too.

Will always return if price is right. It's expensive when compared to other hotel deals.
Location not so good due to traffic situation. Not well located for Skytrain & Underground.

Recommend the Grand Deluxe room with Executive Lounge access
by Rebecca M from New Zealand, 22 Sep 07
Don't recommend anything less, and it was a good room. You need to hold the lever back for a while to ensure the toilet flushes in all the rooms, but they were nice and our room was very spacious with a good view (we stayed on 14th and 16th). The higher up you are, the better the view. There was a bell ringing in the morning, once around 3 or 4am, then again around 6 or 7am, possibly from the temple next door. It woke us up, so that was the only issue with noise, good thick walls otherwise. Our things were safe in the rooms, there was also a safe which cannot be removed and it was very reliable which my friend used, though I locked my money in my suitcase and both mine and my friend's things never went missing.
The breakfast, canapes (including small sandwiches, sometimes with a caviar topping, and some little desserts) and refreshments including cocktails in the executive lounge were much nicer than the breakfast downstairs which had a lot more variety but was in a big restaurant with very impersonal service and lower quality food. We tried downstairs once or twice and were seated at a table with other guests though there were vacant tables, very annoying.
Again, recommend the executive lounge with an amazing view and nice big tables and newspapers provided. It was nice there was a gym in the hotel, but I hated it to be honest. No one sticks to the time limits on the equipment, so you have to wait a long time to use any of the quite old, crappy cardio equipment, and the weights equipment was pretty basic and limited. The service was the worst there than anywhere else.
Internet use is not free -they charge you a lot more in the hotel's business centre than in the internet cafe next door to the hotel, but if you have a laptop with you (we didn't) you get free access in your Grand Deluxe room. They don't provide laptops in the executive lounge, which I had expected, but aside from that and the very cold air conditioning, the executive lounge was great. Made the hotel stay the best we experienced in Thailand.
