Will not go back
by Anonymous user, 20 Aug 05
We had booked a double room with double bed, no smoking. We were given a smoking room. We complained. We were told sorry hotel fully booked. We insisted and were given a non-smoking room but with twin beds. No importance seemed to be given to what we had booked months ago.
For a 4 star hotel the service was well meaning but not very competent. We would not return.

Poor customer services
by Veneeta from Hong Kong, 13 Jan 06
When we got to the room, it was great. it was spacious and tastefully done. The pool area and breakfast are a miss. The location of the hotel was inconvenient.
The only good thing about this hotel was the room. this is one hotel I will not recommend to any of my friends. The hotel must train there staff to be professional and friendly. I work as a customer services myself, so I know how important is it to have good attitude towards your customers.

Money doesn't worth that kind of hotel
by Billy from HKSAR, 31 Aug 05
Breakfast:
Small place and crowded, like day after Tsunami. Food was average and you didn't have much time to see.
Location:
Poor nowadays. Sky and subway train are too far to walk.
Room was average. I wonder why 4 stars, it looked like 2 to 2 and a half. Staff was 1/2 friendly. I remembered when I checked out and waited for my deposited money. It took more than 15 mins till I made the complain but she gave me back my $1000-HKD with a non-polite manner. Money doesn't worth that kind of hotel

Sure, I'd do it again.
by Suzanne M from Columbia, MD, 30 Jan 06
The staff was very good, and quite helpful. The beds were terribly uncomfortable, but the bathroom was very nice, with a nice shower (although it leaked so much on either side of the door that it made huge puddles on the floor. For us, the buffet was just OK since we're vegan, but I imagine that if we weren't, It would've been outstanding since the selection was huge, and you could have breakfast on the lower level or on the 8th floor outside where the pool was (although the selection was poor on the 8th floor).
The pool was gorgeous, as well as the cabana, and the bartender there was awesome. They had a decent gym by the pool as well, and a sauna. It wasn't in the best part of town, but that's not such a big deal. All in all, for the money ($54/night), it's a steal.

The staff at reception should go for courses
by Usha Devi from Singapore, 28 Oct 06
The staff at the reception counter should go for training. They are not too friendly. A lady (unfortunately I did not get her name) was not fit to be at the reception counter. She does not know how to smile and has attitude problem. The best part was when we made booking in Singapore a month back for late checking in and out, we were locked out of our room after 12, when we returned from shopping. When we checked with this lady at the reception, she said look at the sign, checking out is at 12p.m. We had to beg her to let us in until 3.30 and she asked us to pay 1,000 Baht in order to get access to our room. The feeling was miserable. I will definitely not go back to this hotel.

Don't mind going back there again
by KEL from Singapore, 18 Apr 08
It was good but not impeccable. The service staff could use more customer service training although they were not rude. They were just expressionless mostly and are rather slow.
Maybe because we went there during their Songkran festival and they probably thought that they should be enjoying themselves rather than work.
Their breakfast was good. I went there with my family and the restaurant was not crowded so it was pretty enjoyable.
Although the location of the hotel was not near any major shopping centres or historical site(s), it is not inconvenient. It is within walking distance to the famous 4-Faced Brahma at the Grand Erawan Hyatt, near Pratunum Square and MBK etc.
You can always get a taxi at the side of the hotel of flag it down, ask them to go by the meter and you can get to any destination at less than SGD$6. Do take note, never take the taxi that is next to a booth or when the taxi driver approaches you saying he will bring you here and there.
Btw, ask for a taxi-card at the reception if you are taking a taxi as most taxi drivers do not seem to know when we tell them D'Ma hotel or you can just tell them Pavillion.
What I like is that I get to mingle with the locals as the hotel is surrounded by shop houses etc. So if you walk out you can easily eat local food that is delicious and cheap.
There is a 7-11 nearby in case you want a supper but did not think you are up to its local food.
One grouse I have is that, they are rather slow in replenishing (of all things) the toilet paper. They did replenish the drinking water though, they did a good job of tidying up the room. I always came back to a well-made room.
I will definitely go back there again.
Digressing from Pavillion D'Ma. My cousin stayed at the Bangkok Palace which is next to D'Ma. Bangkok Palace despite its name has an old and musky smell when we entered. The room does not look as comfortable as Pavillion D'Ma.
