Wont stay there again
by Anonymous User from Australia, 28 Jul 08
Room clean & big enough for the 3 of us. However it & corridors smelt very strongly of cigarette smoke which was unpleasant.
The shower leaked through some sort of vent & flooded bathroom floor...not fixed in 3 days we were there.Hairdryer was not in bathroom and no where near a mirror.
Got ripped off badly by hotel taxi so beware ... don't use their transport. Go get a meter taxi (so cheap) or tuk tuk ( I had a tuk tuk 2hrs for 10baht).
Good access to Grand Palace etc but took forever to get to MBK even though it's really not far.
The best about Grand China were the breakfasts & lovely staff in revolving restaurant.

Grand China Princess - in the hub of Bangkok Chinatown
by Douglas family from Australia, 10 Jun 06
We have stayed at the Grand China Princes Hotel roughly 6 times - and we primarily love it for the location - and the views from the rooms are second to none. I just have to look at the pics from home, and I want to be transported there NOW!
The hotel is so well located for our desires, in Chinatown - which we love to explore. Its a part of the city that's alive from earliest hours of the morning, right through the night. I love to get up early and wander in the markets, and watch the monks gathering alms in the morning, the range of markets throughout the whole area, which change all day.
Easy walking distance to Ratchawongse Pier and Hualamphong Station, and walking distance for us to Khao San Road, Wat Pho and the Grand Palace, if we feel like a walk. The flower markets and the Memorial Bridge markets all walking distance.
We love to get down into Chinatown shopping and just get lost in it all.
The hotel is a well established, efficient one, and the staff are always very obliging. There's 3 restaurants in the hotel, and a western style snack-bar downstairs, an ice cream and coffee shop, tailor and miscellaneous other businesses inside. Massage service is excellent, either in the health centre or in the privacy of your room. Breakfasts are extensive, and cater to a vast range of cultural desires.
Rooms are well fitted out - comfortable beds (for Asia), and bathtub and shower facilities. We have also used the Princess Suite and one of the family rooms (for 5), and been more than comfortable and satisfied. Room service and bar service and entertainment all top shelf.
We keep thinking of going somewhere else - just because we should - but hard to compare all the factors.

Comfortable with great views
by Dr. Karen Wrobbel from Fox River Grove, IL, USA, 4 Jul 07
Very comfortable hotel with helpful staff. Hotel restaurants are good & servers most accommodating. Breakfast buffet has an amazing variety of items, including eggs & pancakes cooked to order. We liked the location - walking distance to pier & from there could take river taxi to BTS or sight seeing locations. Also could walk (if you can stand the heat) to Wat Pho, flower market, etc. Plenty to explore in Chinatown as well. Views from the large windows are spectacular. We would stay here again if back in Bangkok.

Our Daughter only wants to stay there if we visit again!
by Mohini Oberoi from New Delhi, India, 13 Aug 07
We moved there from down the street as the hotel given to us by the travel agent was below standard. Grand China Princess was a pleasant surprise as we discovered it by chance. Location is very good as it's on a main street corner of Chinatown which is a lively area throughout the day.
The wholesale market opens early morning where our daughter had a blast shopping for gifts. At night the street turns into a food market. Hotel Lobby is well lit with a 'Green' view outside & a bar. The room was spacious, comfortable & clean. At least some of the staff can speak English. Breakfast spread is pretty good .... so is the food in general. We enjoyed the Jacuzzi & Massage. Would love to stay there again.

As my grandad would say its a grand location me old china
by Mark John Stafford from West Yorkshire, UK, 20 Dec 07
The location was good with excellent views of Bangkok. There was a wide variety of choice on the buffet breakfast. You must try the revolving restaurant. The food is good and reasonably priced, but the wine is not! Take care when ordering as all courses come at once.
Entertainment was enjoyable too. Gym is adequate if you just want a quick workout, but not the best. Tut tut took us around the sights of China Town and even waited for us while we were measured up for new suits at James's fashion and only cost 120 baht inc the 30 baht tip, not bad for a 3 hour tour.
