Imperial Queen's Park Hotel Bangkok Sukhumvit

We have stayed at this hotel 4 times, and keep going back because the location is fantastic. The park next to the hotel is great for a walk and frequently has live entertainment in the evening. There is also the emporium shopping mall 5 mins walk away, with a great selection of shops and restaurants.

The rooms are fine , although the shower is not separate, and is over the bath.The pillows are very hard, but you can ask for softer ones from a selection from housekeeping.

The 2 pool areas are quiet and relaxing.
The lobby lounge is a great place to sit and watch the world go bye,with a nice little patisserie adjacent to it .

One criticism is that the air conditioning at breakfast is set too cold and your food doesn't stay warm.

Value for money this hotel would be hard to beat.

I stayed 3 nights at the Imperial Queen's Park, and at first felt a little out of place. Approx 80-90 percent of the hotel guests were from Japan. At first I felt like I had made a mistake, but this hotel grew on me quickly.

It is expensive, but I my company paid so .... The in-room extras like slippers, toiletries and robes were a plus. The hotel is about 15 minutes walk from the Asoke BTS station, but later I found that there is a closer BTS station if you turn right on Sukhumvit Rd. There are 2 7-11's within a 5 minute walk, and there are 3 massage parlors right on Soi 22. Check out Flaming Moe's bar in the Queen's Park Plaza complex across the street, and the New Soi Cowboy bar just down the Soi (turn left after leaving the hotel). When I was there, they were working on the patio of the 9th floor pool. The pool was never closed, but there was sawdust on the lounge chairs that was not removed frequently. Not a big deal, as it kept the number of guests down there. The 4th floor pool is much nicer with a changing room/cabana, nice chairs and umbrellas and large complementary pool towels.

The hotel appeared OK with bringing back overnight ""guests"", but you are advised to be discreet about it. One down check was with room service, as I was given attitude by the night waiter that insisted on bringing the food into the room. He also had attitude that I did not appreciate. I do not recommend the car service to the airport, as it costs 990 baht, and a regular taxi is less than 200 baht. It was always easy to get a taxi at the front entrance. The staff is very friendly despite the fact that I am not Japanese. The bell-hops are great, and the front desk was patient with me, as my reservation was not found at first (my fault). There is piano music in the lounge area each night, and there are some great looking restaurants, but I did not eat at them.

I would recommend it to anyone, but it is not a cheap place to stay. It would be a good hotel for families, as there is a nice pool, and it is removed from the bar scene. I would recommend this hotel for single guys, too, as it is very convenient to Soi Cowboy (60 baht cab, 30 baht motorcycle taxi or a 20 min walk) and other nice places around Sukhumvit.
