Outstanding value!
by Anne from San Francisco, CA, 8 Jul 06
I have stayed in Jim's Lodge twice, first for a week and the second time for ten days. My experience in cooler weather (late January) was a little more pleasant than my experience in the humid summer (late June/early July) simply because the walk to the SkyTrain felt a lot longer in the heat.
The staff is very kind and quietly friendly, and helpful when a traveler asks for assistance. Jim's Lodge seems to attract pretty self-sufficient folks and the staff leave the level of interaction up to the guest. The rooms are slightly grungy - perfectly clean, but the furniture and towels have seen better days. I enjoyed some of the restaurants located nearby on Ruam Rudee street, and the convenience of having an all-night 7-11 and a real grocery store (inside the Conrad Hotel All Seasons shopping center) nearby. The hotel's restaurant was more than adequate, too. For Roman Catholics who like to find a church when they travel, the Thai-style Church of the Holy Redeemer down the street is convenient. Just past the church's parking lot is the entrance to a really interesting and traditional neighborhood that is a huge contrast to the surrounding area of Bangkok.
If you want an incredible value and a Sukhumvit location, and if you essentially only plan to use a hotel room for sleeping, this is an outstanding selection.

I can't wait to return

My place in Bangkok
I stayed in this Hotel for a week,on my vacation as a soldier of US Army from Iraq. This was within my budget. It had everything I was looking for, clean quiet & comfortable. The staff was extremely helpful in providing directions & suggestion, on what to do & where to go. It is close to night market & sky train. I was a little nervous at first, very limited Thai Language skills. They were able to put me at ease and were patient & kind. I followed most of their advice, I was happy I listened. Their suggestions saved me a lot of wasted time & headache.
