Value for the price

by HKOYAJI from Hong Kong, 11 Nov 07

Location is good for go to downtown Bangkok (ie Silom 9 by bus or taxi). The room is wide, not bad for this budget. Breakfast is average, but water of swimming pool is dirty.

Not bad

by Anonymous User from From USA, but live in China, 26 Jan 08

We've stayed in this hotel several times with our family (we get a discount because of connections). Some rooms are nicer (and larger) than others. All the rooms have sliding glass doors that go out to a balcony, but sometimes the door is locked. Some of the rooms have a nice view of the lovely estate with gardens next door. The rooms themselves are fairly large, but the carpet is quite dirty.

Other than that, they are clean. The bathrooms are fine -- bathtub & marble sink. The beds are comfortable and sheets clean. The rooms are reasonably quiet. The pool is on the roof and nice, but the water is a little cold, and there isn't enough seating up there.

There's a nice rooftop bar, but it wasn't staffed in the afternoon. There's a nice restaurant which offers both western and Thai food at reasonable price, and the wait staff is friendly and helpful.

Breakfast is included in the price of the hotel, and is a buffet -- Thai/Chinese in one area (rice porridge, noodles, veggies) and Western (eggs, toast, bacon, sausages) in other. There's plenty of fruit, coffee, tea, and fruit juice. We rather prefer the Asian breakfast. There's a nice little bakery/coffee shop, but it isn't always staffed. Check in and out is a little slow, and sometimes you have to wait a bit for the elevator. The area (Pradipat Road) is off the beaten track for tourists, a bit north of the central shopping area, but close to the palace, zoo, and weekend market. There's plenty of Thai food vendors in the street in front of the hotel (with fabulous barbecue chicken) and little restaurants at reasonable prices. We recommend the Muslim/Indian food restaurant nearby -- across the street. You can walk down Pradipat to the end of the street (about 2 or 3 kilometers) and there's a Big C with a Pizza Company and other restaurants, bakeries, and ice cream shops. It's quite close to the weekend market -- you can walk there if you're ambitious, or a quick taxi ride.
