Budget hotel Near Shopping Zone

by Prashant Rukmangad from Nagpur, India, 4 Apr 06

The location is excellent if you wish to do lot of shopping. The Skytrain station is also at walking distance. Travel agent is not in Hotel and you have to go other place to book for City tour etc.

Tried and Tested

by Alvin from Singapore, 15 Nov 06

You can't complain about the all-round value here. You could get a lot worse with the amount you pay elsewhere. Location's central to almost everywhere popular. Stay here if you're not fussy about a less than perfect shower, slightly hard bed and no cable TV. Other than that, I think it's the perfect place for the budget traveler.

2nd time visit

by LL from KL, M'sia, 19 Nov 07

This is 2nd time we stayed here. The renovation during the daytime is very annoying. Bathtub is pretty dirty. Not much choices on TV channel. Location is pretty good.

What u pay is what u get..

by Jolene from Singapore, 3 Nov 08

Not advisable for gals to stay alone as it's located in 1 of the small lanes and it can be quite dark n deserted at nite.

Lift is very small, think can only accommodate 5 ppl. u have to hold on to the close button till it closes or the lift door will re-open again.

The shower water sometimes might suddenly turn cold and u got to wait for it to turn warm again. Bath tub some parts were peeled off, can see the rustyness. Shower curtain was quite dirty..

Aircon temperature can't be adjusted, it's just off or on.
Too cold for me that I got to ask for extra blanket.

Lights flicker at times, bed too soft, Furniture old, some broken.

Dun waste yr $ eating at the hotel's restaurant, food sucks and portion is small.

Overall, if u are not the fussy kind, tis hotel is ok to just slp and rest for the nite.

Can not reccomend this place !!!

by SHLOMO TSAFRIR from Israel, 15 Jul 05

The location is good, but the room and the place itself is not good. The room was simple, but even simple room can be nice, not this one unfortunately.
Not clean, is a nice way of telling you keep out....

Not recommended!

by Robert from Norway, 7 Jun 07

I have used this hotel since 2002 to stay whenever I was in Bangkok for my work. Unfortunately the hotel became worse and worse as time passed.

The hotel looks quite nice from the outside ... nice reception ... plants and flowers.....etc.... But the rooms are bad. They should have renovated them years ago. The biggest problem is the fact that they advertise with nice photos and good stories. According to their website they have 2 restaurants and a gym. Unfortunately one restaurant has been closed since 2001 (only the Crescendo is open). The gym has been closed for renovation for years now.

Also the staff is unfriendly and unhelpful. On several occasions they tried to make money by being less than honest. One time, I asked for a taxi-meter at the reception. Once in the taxi, I discovered that the hotel-staff charged the taxi-driver 100 Baht with the promise that I would pay him 500 Baht (for a taxi drive of about 50 Baht). Needless to say I refused the taxi.

One time I wanted to order plane tickets in the hotel for a flight the next day. After a phone call I with their travel-agent I was told that all planes were full for the next day except one flight early in the morning. They could sell me a ticket for that flight for the regular price. Unfortunately for them I understand Thai. The phone call wasn't about planes that were full. One phone call by me to Bangkok Airways made clear that there were many flights available the next day and the early flight had a huge discount. So the staff at the hotel tried to sell a discount-ticket to me by lying about the available flights.

Opposite the road, there's the First Hotel. If you want to stay in that area, not willing to spend too much money, you better go to that hotel. If you want to spend a little more, you can go to the Arnoma Hotel. This hotel is very nice and situated right next to all the big shops in the area (Big C, Isetan, Central World, Paragon, etc)

Never Again here...

by Rakesh Gupta from Chennai, India, 25 Feb 07

This place has got a good location. That is all. The hotel is not meant for decent holidaying. Dinghy place with cold staff. Curt and unwelcome receptionist. Weird intrusive apology of a balcony/window which is also a bit eerie in the night. People keep walking across the window. Breakfast's okay. No help, no assistance otherwise. Poor value. Avoidable. Not recommended.

Never ever going back!!

by Wendy from Malaysia, 16 Mar 08

Stained walls in the room, very poor lighting and dirty carpet. The toilet is dirty, the sink's tile nearly fell off. The bed sinks and creaks. The only plus side is the breakfast spread. Other than that, I think there are better hotels around that area with that price! Would definitely not stay there anymore!!

Can give it a miss.

by Anonymous User from Singapore, 3 Nov 08

We booked a triple room and was given a big apartment suite. Location is horrible, you will not expect that there will be a hotel along that lane. Even the cab driver does not know how to get there from the airport!!

The room is spacious but the service was lousy. The recep has problem understanding our requests and converse in English. The aircon was terribly noisy. Also, we experienced black out one night after a loud explosion sound which woke all of us up. Breakfast spread was mediocre.
