Absolutely go back there!

by Sulis from Indonesia, 3 Jul 08

I got a large room with a very clean bathroom, really as other reviewers said that. It's really near to the BTS station and also the Mosque with many Muslim food stall around it. Excellent value! But, beware of the taxi there, take the BTS instead!

Value for money

by Anonymous User from Singapore, 21 Jun 08

It's a nice clean place for the money paid. Definitely worth the value. However, it's quite a walk to the BTS and not very centralized, but for the money paid, can't ask for more. =)

Convenient location, good value for money

by Leong, J. from Malaysia, 5 Mar 08

My wife and I stayed here in a standard room for 4 nights (29 Feb-4 Mar 2008). The room was reasonably sized and clean. Our towels were changed daily and 2 bottles of complimentary 600ml mineral water were also provided daily. The complimentary daily breakfast is chosen from a menu and is adequate. However, we couldn't open the curtains in our room due to the construction going on right next door to the hotel. During the time there, we were out most of the time, so we didn't experience much construction noise (if at all) during the day.

From the Suvarnabhumi airport, it took us around 40 minutes to reach the hotel. The taxi meter rate was 223THB (This EXCLUDES the 50THB service charge and the 65THB toll rate payable if taking the expressway). The taxi meter fare back to the airport by flagging down a metered taxi in front of the hotel was 208THB (EXCLUDING the 65THB expressway toll). As a point to note, taxis quote a fare of 150THB back to this hotel from the Grand Palace/ Wat Arun area without using the meter.

The hotel is ideally located as the Rachathewi BTS station was less than a 5 minute walk away. Siam Discovery/Siam Paragon/MBK was about 20 minutes walk away. The Erawan shrine is about 45 minutes walk away. The trip on the BTS to the BTS station at the Jatujak weekend market takes about 15 minutes.

Lots of food stalls are open at night along the way to the BTS station from the hotel, offering cheap and tasty meals. From noodles to seafood, they offer a variety of local treats. Do remember to request the food stalls to make your dishes less spicy as well. There's a 7-11 outlet near the BTS station, so your necessities can be purchased there. A 6 litre bottle of drinking water (Nestle brand) costs 35THB here.

Worth It!

by Shida from Selangor, Malaysia, 3 Mar 08

The room is clean. I'm impressed with the bathroom.Looks like it has just been renovated... At night there are Muslims stall across the road near to the 7-eleven. Massage shop is just next to the hotel and transportation is easy to get.

THE BEST!

by from W P, Malaysia, 11 Sep 07

Having Bangkok as my must visit at least once a year, this is my 4th time there, and this is the BEST place I've stayed in! Reason being that as a Muslim traveler, its a great location as there are MUSLIM RESTAURANTS just across the road, and a MOSQUE too, you can even hear when prayer time gets in! The Skytrain is just a 5 minute walk away, just about 3 stations to Jatujak, 1 station to Siam, and even after a great night out in PATPONG, taking a cab only costs about RM5!! Rooms are clean, toilets SPARKLING (which is always what I look for in a hotel - a clean bathroom!).. I've promoted this hotel to ALL my MUSLIM friends and would not hesitate to recommend SAMRAN to anyone else too!!

CHEERS!!!

Samran is a friendly place

by eYya from KL, Malaysia, 19 Jul 07

I was keen to book at Samran after reading other travellers review about the toilet and thats exactly what I checked when I got in the room. It was definitely clean and bright. Very good setup for 2.5 star hotel. Location to BTS not more than 5 mins. You can easily walk down to Pantip Plaza and Platinum Fashion Mall. Ideal for Muslim coz numerous restaurants across the road along Soi 7. Strategic access to Siam, Patpong and Sukhumvit. Next visit, Samran's for me :-)

Clean & Economical

by Joe, 18 Jun 07

Samran Place is a comfortable and value for money place, especially for budget travellers like me. It provide economical and clean room located just 10 minutes away from the Rajtevee (BTS, near to Asia Hotel). 7-11and local eatery stalls are located opposite the hotel, within walking distance. Express bus(AE3) from the international stops 30 metres away from the hotel. I will definitely book my stay with Samran again.

Thumbs up

by ck hong from singapore, 9 Jun 07

Brilliance! it's really convenient! it's 10min walk to the nearest BTS station and abt 20min walk to MBK. Couldn't ask for a better location for the price.

The breakfast was pretty good, served in sets, not buffet but definitely sufficient. Rooms clean, cosy and comfortable. Hotel staff actually remembered my hotel room number.

The surrounding amenities are sufficient. 7-11 for you to buy water, massage palours, internet cafe... must try the food stalls nearby! they open in the evening through night. great value for money, great taste! as long as you get past the mental barrier of the stalls being dirty, it's great!

Well, I guess the mosquitoes thanks to the neighboring construction site is a problem though, but when u enter the room, shut the glass door and it'll be fine.

Great place to stay! go hit the sack there.

A great place to go for if you are looking for Budget Hotel!

by Serene Ong from Singapore, 25 May 07

Samran Place is very nice and clean. Rooms are spacious and comfortable. Location is great. By foot to the nearest BTS station is only 5 mins. This place is like the center point of the city. Travel to places like Patpong, Chinatown, Pratunam, Mbk etc. only cost about +/- 50 Thai baht. Eveything about this place is good. But one bad thing is it's not well known by the people there. Many taxi driver and tuk-tuk does not know that place. Will have difficulties getting back to the hotel by taxi or tuk-tuk.

BUDGET BUDGET

by sum from singapore, 21 May 07

Samran Place is a real no frills hotel, if you can call it a hotel. There are no hairdryers in the rooms, you've gotta borrow them from the counter after which the lady will tell you to "please return when you're done with it". I assume from this that they only have very few around. Also, the towels arent white, they're yellowish. Some even had brown spots.
BUT, the location is just superb. Kick-ass seafood along the streets of samran, BTS around 600m away. If you ain't fussy and don't mind walking, you could cover the entire Siam stretch of shopping centres. I would really recommend this for people who are visitng bangkok for a short 3-5 days and looking mainly to shop shop shop.
