Experience China town in a very very nice Hotel

by Gaston Hendriks from Netherlands, 18 Sep 07

Nice place in the middle of china town. Perfect place to explore this part of the city. Atmosphere is great. Very colorful. We really enjoyed this hotel together with our children.

It's chinatown, what do you think?

by Christof Muechler from Dortmund, Germany, 6 Jan 07

Overall good, but keep an eye on the room you get, because we got one with street-view and it felt like standing in the street, very noisy! The rooms are a mixture between Chinese and modern and we changed to a room in the back, but it had no real window but colored glass.

Breakfast is continental and you can take it to your room, if you want. I liked that.

Traffic is a bit difficult, because at Yaowarat Street it is busy from 7 to 20, and we took the MRT to the next skytrain. Tuk-tuk and taxi is no problem, but takes a long time.

Very good, charming hotel

by Ryan Sean Delatorre, 29 Sep 06

Clean, charming, friendly hotel at a very good price. The rooms are tastefully and cleverly decorated, the staff is very friendly, and we liked the location, although the area is a little busy. We would highly recommend.

Fantastic!!

by Sonia Cork from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, UK, 25 Sep 06

Shanghai Inn is wonderful! Everything shown in the photos is as the hotel actually is, unlike some places I've previously stayed. The rooms were spotless and when I had wireless issues and needed to change rooms the staff were very accommodating, would highly recommend.

We'll definitely be back ...

by Susan from Singapore, 25 Sep 06

We love the place... actually we felt in love with the place when we saw it in the website... and the place looks exactly like what we saw in the website ... No camera tricks here. It is a quaint little place which is conveniently located to all the places we liked ... chinatown wholesale markets, great seafood in the evenings, supermarket on the ground floor, the best foot reflexology in town at the Spa on 3rd floor... Better than our Banyan Tree Stay in Bangkok! We'll definitely be back!

No regret! :)

by Foong Kim Ben from Singapore, 11 Sep 06

Very special hotel ... If you got sick of the common hotel, why not try this hotel? Very special decoration and design. Never had this hotel experience ever before. Though it is not near the metro, but a 15 min or a 3 min bus ride will bring you to the nearest metro.

Around the hotel, you can find the local's very unique kind of lifestyle. As it is located at Chinatown, you can find many Chinese temple and Chinese food. A perfect mixture of Thai and Chinese culture. A thumb-up to the hotel management team. No regret! :)

A very HIP hotel

by Allen Teh & Sopeetida Lochaya from Singapore, 7 Aug 06

This is a very good value for money kind of hotel. It got a very hip feeling about the decoration. Though it is very busy Chinatown street but the hotel is very cozy quiet inside and giving the fully privacy.

I like the room very much. They made a good effort to decorate our bed as we informed them that we were on our wedding anniversary, good job you guys. The room itself got every good decoration and functional, very cozy and comfortable . The colors of the room are very pretty. The bed frame is very Chinese style as I saw from the photo and giving total old time memories to remember though the matress is a bit too hard.

The location is very convenience. You can find day/night time foods and it got a supermarket right down at the hotel 1st floor. The breakfast was a little bit less than I expect more like an option. I'm not sure how much the hotel charge for breakfast but it was not enough.

A Must!

by European Visitor, 4 Jul 06

A fresh, refined, comfortable and pleasant experience in Bkk. Very nice and helpful staff! Small details to note and easy to correct: improve the Internet service, provide a small hotel card with a map and address in Thai. I will come back definitely.

Charming

by Khoo JE from Kuala Lumpur, MY, 3 Jul 06

I liked how the hotel successfully infused traditional themes with interior decor sophistication. Staff were very friendly & helpful, and speak English fairly well. New, clean and quaint. A breath of fresh air compared to usual hotel offerings.

Worth trying

by Christie from Singapore, 17 May 06

Nice decoration. Breakfast not variety of choice. Location is good because there is a supermarket right below the hotel. Reception desk locate at forth floor is a bit inconvenient for guests to find.
