You get what you pay for

by behn, michael from london, UK, 30 May 05

A hotel with rooms 30 years past its age. Clean with reasonable service. The only window for most rooms leads to an alley full of AC units and smelly sewer. I changed hotels, and was glad to pay more for more.

Cant wait to go back to Thailand not sure about the Hotel

by Sam from London, 10 Jul 07

Shops and restaurants located just outside the hotel. The views were really bad best to keep curtains closed. Hotel staff were there when required but seemed like they charged us more because we were tourists. Try and organize your own transportation as the hotel with charge double. Tuk Tuk drivers do hassle tourists but just walk on and discuss price before you get in. No breakfast included. The spa next door is a must. Very affordable and relaxing.

I expected a better hotel for the price as I stayed in Pattaya first where the hotel was cheaper and much better. I don't know if I would stay here again as the location is good but maybe try another hotel. A must visit MBK Shopping Mall not to far by Cab. Hope this helps as I booked through AtSiam.com and went through all the reviews first. AtSiam.com were also very helpful with all our questions and replied to all our emails and queries.

Wouldn't stay here if i was to go back.

by Gaf from London, 15 Aug 07

Myself and my girlfriend stayed here in July 2007 Before and after we went to Pattaya as we got there a day early.

We decided to stay here, they charged same price as AtSiam.com for a standard room but the rooms were exactly the same. Don't pay extra for the deluxe there is no difference.

Unhelpful staff charged us double for cabs.. Try arrange your own transportation.

The view for the room if you can call it a view need I say more.

I would not recommend this to anyone. The location is good but plenty of other hotels around the area.

Don't forget to visit MBK Shopping mall max price 100 thb from hotel by taxi.

Hear me out first

by Anonymous User from Singapore, 18 Apr 08

If you are not the fussy type, not afraid of cockroaches, well... (I do) then this is an average hotel, nicely located near Patphong red light district. Its a real kampong feeling with modern amenities, bed is nice, only about 4 storey high, we love seafood don't we? This is the place to eat at night... I could grab last minute keychanins and knic knacks for friends at the nearby service is ok, maybe because we are fellow Asians, so the reception pays more attention to other nationals.

Otherwise, you'll survived. I would like to try other hotels should I be in Bangkok in May..

I think you can find something better for the same money, but overall ok!

by Miguel Angel Castillo Marquez from Malaga, Spain, 9 Jul 08

The staff is not what you expect from Thai people. Not very nice not very helpful, they do not speak English very good. If you can, ask to to get a room in the new side of the hotel, a bit more expensive but it worth. The location is OK, close to Patpong area and 10/15 minutes to Skytrain.

Excellent for a stop over in bangkok.

by Miss Joanne Boxall from Southampton, England, 29 May 05

The position of the hotel is fantastic which is why we stayed there. It's right in the middle of Silom and in a wicked little village which has a great atmosphere.

The only thing we think they could improve on is the lighting in the room, because there isn't any!! But to be honest for approx $15 per night who's complaining!!

Great would definitely recommend if you just want an overnight stay.

Not for the last time!

by J.P.Obermann from Hamburg / Germany, 23 Nov 05

Friendly staff, great location, (you can do a lot of things just walking), clean rooms with good bed. Close to perfect, if it wasn't for the building noises.
Hammering all day long, what a pity.

Bangkok Trip December 2005

by Jailani Bin Saleh from Singapore, 30 Dec 05

This is my second time at Silom Village Inn (SVI) and I am satisfied with the services provided. Its central location and ease of access to public transportation are plus points.

As a Muslim, though the hotel does not serve Muslim food, these are available at Soi 22 (for Kuay Chap, Beef noodle and Rice) and in front of the Mirasudeen Mosque (Thai curry, Rice, Beef Dendeng and Fried beef with rice). The Deen Restaurant opposite also provide good halal Thai food at affordable prices. And if that is not enough, the Tesco supermarket nearby also provide Halal MREs (Halal Packed Meal Ready to Eat).

The Health Spa also provide excellent service at B400/2hr body massage is value for money and the ambience and pipe in music were soothing. They also provide male masseuse for Muslim male customer as opposite gender masseuse are forbidden.

We made suit for my son's college graduation, my wife had her 2 silk dresses made and I managed to make 5 shirts at affordable prices all completed within 24 hours at the nearby tailor shops. The quality was good too.

The Mirasudeen Mosque is within walking distance from SVI and I get to fulfill my spiritual obligations and needs while enjoying the Silom area & Bangkok.

I would certainly stay at HVI again next year. Keep up the good work.

Cheerful Bangkok

by IMRAT B MUNAWAR from Kuala Lumpur, 27 Dec 05

Excellent hotel, cheap and good location, good food, nice shopping and will recommend to friends who wishes to visit Bangkok with adequate budget. Near to the Surasak sky train and convenient to move around the city. Will stay there again in the next trip and visit to Bangkok.

Good value, Excellent location

by john taylor from Brisbane, Australia, 2 Feb 06

A short stay at the Silom Village and it's really hard to fault for the money . At about $45 Australian it is excellent value considering its location . Clean rooks and spotless bathrooms - plenty of hot water also. Great!
