by suphansa from luxembourg, 16 Dec 06
I known this hotel but this time we stayed here for 3 nights but the room looked very poor and smell humid. Look very dark in the room. The bathroom is ok. The reception is look the same it didn't change. Next time we will stay in Sukhumvit but in Sofitel too.

Tourist TRAP
by Anonymous user from Amsterdam, 25 Dec 06
This Hotel is a tourist trap for Americans and Europeans. The Hotel plays bank and exchange the currency to their benefit. I stayed in this hotel and could you believe that the euro was lower than the the USD in December 2006.
They also do not provide a specific bill. I would recommend to avoid this hotel by any means.

Only if you're desperate
by ACJ from London, UK (expat in Asia), 26 Feb 07
An old and worn hotel with grimy windows, shabby carpets and curtains, with marked and dated bathroom and room furniture. The rooms and most public areas suffer from that damp, old air conditioning smell and anyone used to the comparatively higher standards expected from a 'Sofitel' brand hotel will most likely be very disappointed. It really should have been downgraded by Accor to a Novotel or other brand long ago - or the whole place renovated.
The location may be closer to the airport than some other hotels, but... that really can't compensate unless you're desperate. Frankly if you're afraid of traffic delays in getting to the airport you'd do much, much better just finding a hotel you like near to a MRT/BTS station or near an expressway entry, and then allowing an additional 30-45 mins for your journey.
There's a shopping centre next door, which is handy, but it'd better be open, because there's not much else other than traffic in immediate surrounds.
Your view from the room window or poolside will be a polluted and grimy one of the expressways and that's about it.
