Better pay more and stay in one of the good hotel

by Anonymous user from nsw, Australia, 4 Aug 08

Very horrible place. Rooms are dirty. No hot water ... breakfast was good ... very budgeted hotel ... however I really suggest you to stay in some good hotel at least 2000 baht. Thank you.

Country of smile.

by Abdulsalam, 17 Jul 08

Sukhumvit Crown hotel is a nice place to have a happy holiday,I spent 3 weeks moving around Bangkok, I have never seen better area ,breakfast is a verity of fresh food and good drinks.

Rooms are clean and the staff is very helpful although they don't understand English perfectly.

I can't forget Yandi (old lady) in reception desk was always a friend for everyone.

Ok for the price... I guess...

by Anonymous User from Sweden, 21 Sep 07

The rooms are old and worn and the aircon is noisy. Poor water pressure in the shower, very hard beds. Dirty angled mirrors beside the bed and in some rooms in the ceiling over the bed as well for you who enjoy that kind of thing... Soi 6 is a dump but the skytran is only a 200m walk away.

Much better alternatives around Sukhumvit for the same price, I recommend Woraburi or Swiss Park.

Sawasdee Crown!

by Lopez from The Red Dot, 3 Dec 06

Our last stay at Crown was 16 years ago! We were back recently (20Nov-24Nov) Bkk indeed changed alot! GREAT location! Quiet. Safe. Corridor well lit, security cameras. 2 elevators. Exterior of hotel building and interior of room are pretty much the same except they've refurbished and changed the AC, mattress, pillows, bathroom wall tiles, wash basin and a fresh coat of green paint! Few mins to NANA station, NANA Square. 10 mins walk to muslim restaurants, mainly serving arabic, indian cuisines and some local food. Several 24-hr convenient shops at location. Freshly squeezed mandarin oranges on pull-carts - a must try!!

Housekeeping services was slow, took ages for them to bring our requests of flask of hot water, extra pillows, shampoo & shower gel. Better to bring your own toiletries though. Oh! and remember to bring face towels, rubber slippers and EXTRA hangers too! Elderly chambermaid (probably in her 70s) did a great job in cleaning up our room :) Room is spacious, however, red carpeted floor was stained and we felt awkward with long stretch of wall mirror next to bed and a circular one above bed - if you know what i mean!? Room was pretty stuffy when first checked in. Housekeeping should have sprayed air freshener in room every time guest checked out or before new guest checked in.

NOTE: Pay only THB 350 (inclusive of highway tol) from airport > hotel or hotel > airport

There's also additional room charges for late check outs. 12pm to 4pm is THB400, 4pm to 9pm is THB600

When buying merchandise from pull carts or street vendors don't be afraid to bargain 50% below asking price!

Enjoy your stay in the Land of Smiles and happy shopping!

We'll be back! :>

by Ling from Singapore, 1 Dec 06

Excellent location! Quiet. Conveniently located near several 24-hr convenient shops. 5 mins to Nana station. Muslim food conveniently available mostly Arabic and local dishes. Room is spacious, good firm mattress but pretty stuffy esp when we first checked in, had to constantly spray with Eucalyptus freshener. Elderly chambermaid was rather forgetful in replacing shampoo and shower gel. No toothbrush and toothpaste provided. Best to bring your own toiletries and extra hangers!

Room service was VERY slow. On most occasion, had to constantly remind staff to bring flask of hot water, shampoo & shower gel and extra pillows! additional charge for late check-outs ie 12pm till 4pm = Baht 400, 4pm till 9pm = Baht 600.

Important Note: Normal Taxi to or from Airport to Hotel pay only Baht 350 each way! Have a pleasant stay!

Will always stay the the crown hotel when in bangkok

by neil kitson from jamaica, 30 Nov 06

I have stayed at the crown or locally pronounced clown hotel off and on for ten years now and I find it to be the best value hotel in Bangkok if not the whole of Thailand.

Will stay again

by brian brunger from nottingham u. k., 21 Nov 06

3rd time I have stayed at hotel, as is near NaNa SkyTrain station, and walking distance of nightlife.

Staff have always been good and Yindee on reception. Very helpful on booking trips and useful information. Will stay again.

Terrible

by Scott from Pattaya, 6 Nov 06

This is not a good hotel - do yourself a favor and avoid it. DO NOT STAY HERE under any circumstances it is revolting. It is in a decent part of Bangkok but the location is the only good part!!

A long-time satisfied guest

by Peter Schnitzler from Netherlands (Holland), 5 Jul 06

Stay there every year for 21 years now. At arrival in BKK, and sometimes for several weeks.

Tasteful kitchen and very helpful hardworking staff. Especially Yindee, from reception.

Rooms have new AC, as the old ones became somewhat noisy.

Close to big shops (Indra, Robinson)

Very good value for money.

Crown is Okey Dokey

by Anonymous User, 22 May 06

Look, if you got to be on Sukhumvit (sp) and you are not a 5 star guy or gal, it is the perfect location, 2 minute walk to sky train and the subway sandwich shop, 5 minute walk to Nana plaza. I kind of enjoy Khao San area but when "uptown" then this is the best bargain for me. Thailand is getting expensive though. I had Indian food and Subway sandwiches my whole stay except for the noodle carts right there on Soi 8 where the Crown is located.
