Simple question, but no management answer

by Richard Ballam from Melbourne, Australia, 12 Jun 08

I've previously (2005, 2006) stayed at the Park Hotel and enjoyed my time there. Service and facilities were then fine.

Last year I stayed there briefly in November 2007 and found only a manually operated TV in my room! Reception advised that all rooms were without a TV remote control, but were unable to provide a convincing explanation as to why this was so. Quite odd!

I'll be returning to Bangkok very soon (July 2008) and have written four (4) emails to their management, politely requesting updated information - are their TV's now equipped with remote control units in each room? A simple question ... should get a simple answer? You'd think so, but no answer whatsoever to the question in any of the 4 emails, despite their automated response to the first two emails, assuring me of a reply to any comments or questions within 2 business days. Now they're not even sending automated responses acknowledging receipt of emails, and still nothing after 17 days!

Looks like my days at the Park Hotel are over ...

No unwanted guests in the room!!

by Mike from Rome, 7 Jan 08

I found roaches in my room which I duly reported to the service desk. They sprayed, but, frankly, I don't think it was enough. The room smelled all day which was rather unpleasant.

Do not stay here!!

by Finn from Cali, USA, 6 Jan 08

Booked a single and got two single beds in a dated dirty place. Receptionist "Poo" is probably the most hostile person I've met in a long time. Rooms have bed bugs and stay clear of the breakfast!! Better to move down to Soi 11 or so. Soi 7 is borderline "Ho" central. Only good point is the BTS at end of Soi 7. Wouldn't stay again if they payed me!!

Proximity to BTS is its redeeming feature

by Beverley Rogers from Australia, 13 Dec 07

I'm a frequent traveler to Bangkok and I always stay at this hotel for one main reason - its proximity to Nana BTS station.
Breakfast is so uninspiring that I skip it.
There's nothing special about Park Hotel.

Don't think i'll be back?

by brett a williams from new zealand, 20 Jun 07

Phone operator wasn't helpful, not enough English and got the feeling they just didn't want to help and they didn't ... Room was what i would expect, tv channels were all unclear, and bath tub didn't hold water, plug leaked, but overall OK for Thai standards

Don't think we will ever go back...

by Tao-Wen Chang from Taipei, Taiwan, 30 May 07

The only thing good about this hotel is that it is close to the clubs- the bed super club and Q bar. (3 mins walk) and it is quite cheap. It's about 2 mins walk to the BTS station. This is a very old hotel, so everything inside was old and felt dirty. My boyfriend refused to go back to the hotel after the bars closed because he felt the place was not good ...

John's stay at Park

by John Cameron Stewart from Australia, 21 Apr 07

Fantastic hotel and great staff - very accommodating and no hesitation in either recommending the hotel to anyone or staying there again. The linen is average and probably could do with updating however the hotel makes up for that by their willingness to help. They stored my bags free of charge in their baggage room. A great place and I will be back!!

I will never stay in the hotel again.

by Ashrul Samad from Brunei, 19 Apr 07

I like about the location. But what disgusts me most is that many cockroaches are everywhere in the room. They do not have power adapter and iron to borrow. The concierge asked for tips like a MUST, when in fact tax and service charge is already included in the hotel room rate.

Never Again

by Hugh Miller from Cairns, Australia., 29 Mar 07

Stayed from 20th to 23rd March 2007. We had booked 1 week but checked out after 3 days. Juvenile cockroaches everywhere including the breakfast. The staff were horrendous. Every time we walked past reception there would be someone loudly complaining. My trouble was calling an outside sport massage service. They insisted that 400 Baht was paid although the therapist was only there for 1 hour. The girl in reception showed me the hotel policy that clearly states overnight guests have to pay extra. She was unmoved when I pointed out that the therapist was there for 1 hour only and was gone before midnight and began swearing at me in Thai. Never never again. Went to Unico Grande which was great.

There's a room for improvement

by Maung Kyaw Win from Bangkok, 24 Jan 07

A lot of mosquitoes in the lobby. Hotel access only from Soi 5 or Soi 11 due to one way caused problem when first visit. Should provide info to the guest how to get there when booking made.
