Hotel in renovation

by ROURE from Paris, 21 Mar 06

The hotel is in renovation, (march 2006) and we enjoyed having a new room. Very large and clean room, but bed is a little too hard, and air-con too noisy. Breakfast is very generous, and croissants good "french"quality, not too greasy.

Budget hotel with good value

by kogan reuven from Israel, 6 Nov 06

We (2 adults+1 kid) stayed in this hotel for 5 nights and enjoyed our stay there.
The rooms are very big in size and include a double bed and a corner sofa and it gave us the feeling that everyone of us got his private corner.

The breakfast buffet have a lot of selection but it stayed the same all the time of our stay but everything was fresh and tasty.

The shower was small but had a strong current of water and it always had a hot water.

Location is very close to sky train and a lot of restaurants and shopping centers.

Unico Grande is Fantastic (not the Tower Inn as shown here)

by Devin Fleming from Miami Beach, Florida USA, 5 Jan 07

Tower Inn and the Unico Grande Silom are NOT the same hotel. The photos are of the Tower Inn which is old, run down and dirty. Unico Grande is absolutely beautiful. The service is fantastic and the staff is very helpful and very nice. My room was so great I didn't want to leave it. The breakfast was pretty good. Not great, but good. Go expecting an Asian style / European style which is fine. To get to Silom road is a bit of a walk through a backstreet and some portions are not lighted, but having been to BKK many times before I wasn't worried. I definitely will return and stay at UNICO GRANDE SILOM - - not Tower Inn.

Still an inn

by Lo Wai King from HK, 6 Mar 07

The hotel is quite old but clean. Room is spacious. Breakfast is good at this price, but bad service. The receptionist only good at tracing customers for vouchers. Waiters need more training in table setting. The location is 10 minutes from Sala Deng and many taxi drivers hesitate to go. Those drivers hanging in front of hotel asked for unreasonable price. The new name not easily recognized by taxi drivers, they know the old name.

It has been my home in bangkok for many years

by kristiaan sobry from belgium, 12 Mar 07

I like the hotel because it is conveniently located, the rooms are old but very spacious, it has a good gym and pool, decent breakfast and the value for money is excellent .Never had problems (or extra pay) for early check in (arrival airport 6 am) and reasonable deal for late check out. Always surprised that with only 2 lifts for nearly 400 rooms you never seem to have to wait longer than a few seconds . Gay friendly.

Negative points are paper thin walls (pray for silent neighbors !), wrong side of Silom if you arrive from airport in rush hour .

The hotel where nobody smiles

by Andreas Wagener from Germany, 23 Mar 07

Even after name change, a bit run-down place: old and cheap furniture, stained carpets and curtains, desolate wall-papers, noisy aircons, even in "executive deluxe rooms". Clean bathroom. Unnecessarily large rooms (almost empty). Good location. Boring breakfast. Cheap hotel.

Worst of all: the staff. Staff aims at reducing interaction with guests to absolute minimum. Slimy bellboys and porters, hunting for tips-for-nothing; deaf-mute receptionists; staff in the breakfast room only into chasing after the breakfast vouchers and, when successful, withdrawing behind the bar to sip their soft drinks; grabby room maids faking up minibar bills; semi-criminal taxi-drivers loitering in front of the hotel, etc. A bit like in communist Russia.

I sure go back

by Tommy from Gent, Belgium, 23 Mar 07

This was the second time I stayed in The Tower Inn. And again I really liked the location and room.

A little uncomfortable was that they first gave me a room which was not what I asked for.

I asked for a new room on a high level, because they have renovated and unrenovated rooms. So the best you can do is ask for the newer rooms.
When I asked why they didn't give me the room where I asked for, they told me it was not ready yet. But if I could wait for +/- 2 hours my preferred room would be ready. So it was, they give me a room on the highest level with Superbe view, I even think they gave me a junior suite room for the price of a deluxe room, so that was great!

Always again

by Gert Haenssig from Frankfurt / Germany, 31 Mar 07

I have spent many times in the hotel and know some of the staff quite well . Gives me a feeling of being home. So, I guess I will go there again and again and again.

Good location

by Larry Wigerh?ll from Sweden, 19 Apr 07

I have stayed twice at this hotel, the first time I got a room on the 9th floor, which had a good view, the second time I was further down the corridor on the 7th floor and that was very bad, as I only had a view of neighborhood walls and roofs. The lobby is renovated, but the rooms have very old furniture and are very uninspiring.

Great value

by Barry Tong, 19 Apr 07

I have stayed here many times now and while its not exactly 5 star, it is in an excellent location and the rooms are huge. After a days shopping, its nice to go back to the Rooftop pool.
