Charming, with helpful staff

by Lars from Sweden, 5 Jan 07

A very special house with great charm. A little odd to have the only window looking into the corridor, but as a compensation there was a nice garden to relax in (no pool, though).

Small rooms, and noisy from the street and nearby restaurant. Old or olden style wooden construction is part of the charm, but of course it is not possible to keep the same cleanliness as in a modern hotel.

The staff was friendly and very helpful and spoke English to various degrees. Nice to find a basket with fruit in each room upon arrival and often some bananas in the lobby. Two computers with not-so-bad internet connection in the lobby, free of charge.

A good choice if you prefer small scale and personal charm to convenient, modern standard.

Best thing we could do...

by Michaela from Germany, 15 Nov 06

This new place in Chiang Mai City is well located right in front of Wat Phra Sin. Any sight is within reach. The atmosphere in the hotel is absolutely wonderful and relaxing. The rooms are spotless and lovingly arranged. The upper rooms all have very neat balconies. The place itself is very quiet.

The staff is very helpful and always willing to do their best. A place to feel more than comfortable!!! Absolutely recommendable...

Will not go back

by Scott from Pattaya Thailand, 15 Nov 06

This hotel is a long way from the night market - however it is not expensive to use Tuks Tuks but it gets a bit old doing it all the time! They tried to put me in a small room when I had booked a deluxe - I was told it was not their fault it was someone else's fault (do not know who yet!). Eventually I got the proper room which had a rock hard bed and pieces of foam for pillows!!!

Breakfast was included but was an absolute joke - the staff were just useless but fairly entertaining in their ineptitude. This Hotel is a little expensive for Thailand and is not very good - avoid it!

Some improvement required!

by Primrose Maryprasith from Bangkok, 26 Jan 07

Buri Gallery is a nice decorated small hotel. Room A1 and A2 are just right attached to reception area which may be annoying during the night time when you are sleeping and awaken by the noises made in the reception area. Only people talking can annoy you since the construction of the hotel is mainly wood and no sound proof. We had to move our rooms one room further back but still heard people talking in the reception during the night.

The door lock is quite difficult to operate. But once you are used to it, it's OK. Don't drink the water in the kettle as it smells strongly of chlorine. Use bottles of water provided in the fridge. Despite all that, we had a nice time staying there. The staff is friendly. Good location for public transport.

Lovely place to stay

by Val Hutton from Surrey UK, 26 Feb 07

Hotel had only been open a few months when we stayed there so everything was new. Simply furnished in traditional style it was small and intimate. The beds were huge but there are no twin rooms. Inside the walls of the old city so very convenient for walking, cycling, or short tuk tuk rides around town.

The staff were very helpful and polite.

I would certainly recommend a stay there. The hotel had lots of facilities, rooms were well equipped and it was extremely good value.

It's just OK

by Mr.Peradath Tungthanabodi from Khon Kaen, Thailand, 3 Dec 07

It's quite expensive if compare with other guest houses. The room is a bit small for 2 persons. At time of stay, it is noisy because of under innovation but good location.
