We would choose to come again
by haresh desai from London , England, 31 Jan 06
Arrange for you to have breakfast by the river bank. The hotel is clean and the rooms are neatly arranged. I will come again.
The cost from the hotel to the city is 100 bahts /person so build this into your costings.
The massage is recommended @ 400 bahts for 2 hrs. A real treat.

Fantastic romantic getaway...
by SK Fong from KL, Malaysia, 26 Feb 06
The architecture, room, grounds, view, quietness was incredible. Service was impeccable without being obtrusive. The menu at the restaurant/room service was sufficient for our needs. Prices of the mini bar items and food & beverage were very reasonable.
Given that we wanted somewhere quiet, away from the hustle & bustle of the more touristy areas of Chiangmai, we find the 100 baht per person hotel for hotel transportation bearable.
The only snag we hit was trying to find our way back from the hotel from the city via tuk-tuk. The taxi drivers seem to have never heard of it before! Quite harrowing trying to hunt down a driver that only have a vague idea how to get to that area.
Overall, we enjoyed our short stay there very much and have recommended it highly to people who are looking for a romantic hideaway in Chiangmai.

Tranquil, Peaceful Oasis, Just Heaven
by Lynne Layton from Brisbane, Australia, 28 Feb 06
The landscaping in the garden was lovely, a team of gardeners tend the grounds each day and they are really beautiful and create a very peaceful and romantic ambiance - the large balcony of our room overlooked the lotus pond - absolutely perfect for reading a book! Other rooms overlook the large swimming pool, childrens swimming pool and river. All rooms feature a water( pond or pool(s) and river) views.
Rooms were spacious and included 'luxury' items such as tea/coffee making facilities, mini-bar, hairdryer and the TV movie channels HBO and Star Movies. Breakfast comprised of fresh fruit, a range of juices, cereals, pastries, breads, bacon , eggs, sausages, ham, Thai style food and you could order freshly made scrambled eggs or omelettes. Restaurant food and beverage prices were very reasonable. Most food items between 60 -80 baht. Soft drinks 15 baht and a can of sing-ha beer 40 baht.
We loved the hotel sooooo much, we stayed 3 weeks ( instead of 3 days) and plan to return next year.
"Everything is done with a smile on their dials" and by the time we left we felt part of their extended family. We were invited to a family birthday party, wonderful array of food, lit white lanterns with fire and released them into the night sky from the edge of the riverbank! Very special.
For those of you with a car, parking is available and a security guard is employed to ensure the security of the compound. Transport to and from the hotel was available, the hotel will take you to the city by car for 200 baht (about US$5.00 or Australian $6.00) per car, a private metered Taxi will charge you 150 Baht, we used Taxi 41 Mr Pravit extensively over a three week period and found him to be very good and reliable. As the hotel is relatively new some local city drivers are unsure of its location, so it is always handy to take a brochure from the hotel with the address in Thai.
If you want "to chill" in a lovely, peaceful and relaxed environment with easy access to the hustle and bustle of Chang Mai you will love Lanna Mantra.

Peaceful elegant and very good value.
by Paul Baker from New Zealand, 22 May 06
There is a canoe to paddle up the river. Our 4 teenage children shared a family room with 2 very large beds (but each bed was made up of 2 mattresses so they slept well). The breakfast was OK but not special and we didn't eat there for any other meals. The only disadvantage was the distance from town but the trip is much cheaper than previous posts suggest. The hotel organised a taxi to get us into town for 200THB but we always came home by one of those crazy pickup trucks where you sit on a bench seat in the back. They cost 120 THB (20THB per person). But be warned - take a brochure from the hotel with directions in Thai - one night we forgot and it took us 40 minutes to get home. The driver didn't have a clue and I finally had to sit in the front and direct him. It should only take 10 minutes. The hotel also organised a fantastic new taxi for 6 people for a whole day - we paid 200THB per hour and it was very good value as he took us to Doi Suthep temple, found the only Bank changing money on election day, and showed us interesting hill-tribe villages etc.
If anyone is thinking of staying at Lanna Mantra - it is brilliant

Will not stay there again
by Nancy Tan from Singapore, 5 Jan 07
The only setback is the location. Very difficult to get a taxi or tuk tuk outside the hotel. Rather far from main road. Some taxi drivers do not know where the hotel is.
Hotel charges Baht150 for 4 persons (one way) to town. Hotel should provide free shuttle to and from town.

Good
by chen, 25 Feb 07
The staff is really nice and helpful, but count the cost clearly with them when u check out. This lower my evaluation toward them.
I knew the hotel is not near the city center. But it's really much further than my imagination. It really take much time when we took red cab back to hotel. Many driver don't know the place and drove the wrong way. Be sure to take the name card with Thai note on it.
The other problem is this booking website. The room we booked is not available but i really never got their notification although they claimed they sent to me. After argued with them for half an hour and we got the room. So confirm with them clearly.

Beautiful hotel, enjoyed our stay
by Julian from Germany, 18 Mar 07
We enjoyed the location very much, right on the river (there is also a canoe free of charge) in a what seemed to b a very upscale neighborhood. For us the out-of-town location was not troublesome at all - the hotel provides a shuttle-service for 150 baht per way/per car with their Mercedes. For coming back you can alternatively take a taxi fo approx the same price. With the hotel business card provided the drivers always found the place. Walking to/from the hotel is no option.
The restaurant in the hotel was very good and prices were very reasonable for a hotel (around 80 Baht per dish).
We enjoyed th opportunity to stay at a beautiful resort but still within a 10-15 minute ride into downtown.

Nice to be there
by Rapheephorn Schmid from Germany, 17 Apr 07
The hotel located in a very quiet area and a bit far from town, therefore it is not so convenient for people who has no car but taxi is available.
This hotel is really recommended, though the variety of breakfast is too small.
