Highly recommend
by Anonymous User from Washington D.C. metro area, 23 Sep 06
We loved the peacefulness and tranquility of the place. It is located in a locate spot in the city, away from other hotels and hot tourists spots, but still within the old city and in walking distance to many places.
The decor and ambiance can not be beaten. The people working there were always courteous and friendly ... present and willing at all times to assist ... just the fine balance for us.

A wonderful hotel, but what's the deal with the hot water?
by Timothy Patterson from Boulder, CO USA, 28 Dec 05
From an architectural standpoint, this is a spectacular hotel. The courtyards, buildings, library (with free internet), swimming pool, and restaurant are all immaculate.
There is only one reason that I cannot give this hotel a 5 star recommendation and it is significant. The room that my wife and I stayed in for 3 nights had no hot water (only warm) and the water pressure in the shower was a drip at best. I reported the problem to the staff and they commented (in broken English) that this was a recurring problem. I wrote a personal and friendly note to the General Manger hoping to receive a face-to-face response. This did not happen nor did I receive a note or apology or something similar as we returned to the room. Needless to say, this was quite disappointing. Our English tour guide told us that many clients had complained to him previously about the hot water problem. So, an otherwise memorable experience in Chiang Mai, Thailand was somewhat tempered by the cold shower in the mornings. Plus, this time of year (late December), it was fairly cold in the mornings so a cold shower was not what we had in mind.
Also, the staff's English is very limited so be prepared to "take the lead" in making your daily arrangements if you are English speaking. In order that this review does not appear negative, the staff is totally gracious, the location is away from the center of town and is very peaceful, and other than the hot water problem, I would definitely return. If we travel to Chiang Mai again, unfortunately we will book another hotel property.

Thai Moments
by Anonymous User from Hawaii, 2 Dec 05
A very serene place with a lovely pool. The staff are so willing to help and the decor is terrific.
Not the most convenient location and a tuk tuk or cab needs to be taken to almost any location, however they are reasonable in price.

The best in Chiang Mai
by Chenyu Liao from Taipei, Taiwan, 12 Sep 05
The hotel is fantastic! Very quiet and private. The staff is very friendly and responsive. The only down side is the room service menu. The selection is quite limited. There are a lot of western sandwiches and lack of Thai dishes.
For me, I would prefer to have some authentic Thai food if I travel to Thailand.

Exceptional!

The staff are attentive and the service is excellent! We plan to spread the word about this place. It is very quiet, not centrally located if that suits your traveling needs-great for a honeymoon destination.

A Hotel experience like no ther.
by DR M S ROGERS from Hong Kong, 21 Jul 05
Finding the hotel proved to be a challenge, however, once found we were overwhelmed by the stunning beauty of it. The architectural style of the building, with it's cloisters and high ceilinged rooms has been enhanced by the exquisite taste used in the interior designs and the renovation. The key certainly is the simplicity of the color scheme combined with an array of unique Asian antiques perfectly placed to display their beauty.
The gardens are just gorgeous and as one walks along the air is filled with tropical perfumes from the flowers. A very lovely way to discover the perfect swimming pool. The 'wow' factor here is very very high. Everything about the hotel and it's staff is top notch and their ability to make one feel part of a home rather than in a hotel made it that much more special. The owner of the hotel is often around and is very friendly. He is also very proud of his hotel and so he should be!
Thank you all for an amazing experience. We will return, along with our friends.
