Tamarind Village Chiang Mai

You feel like royalty arriving at this hotel-we were presented with jasmine garlands, drinks and wet cloths on arrival and the service continued to be great. the staff are very well presented and helpful although they do not buzz around you either.

The rooms are quite small but luxurious; it would probably have been a five star in UK. The grounds are wonderfully kept and a real retreat considering you are in the old city. Although the range at breakfast was a bit limited, I would definitely return to this hotel if I went beck to Chiang Mai.

The only thing to be wary of is the taxi drivers who see you coming when you leave this hotel. We got stung by a driver who obviously thought we were ripe for the picking and caught us unawares, charging us well over the odds for a ride. However this is no reflection on the hotel and probably true of most nicer hotels so i wouldn't let this put me off revisiting this gorgeous hotel.

Spent 4 days at the Tamarind Village Hotel and it was a real touch of authentic Chiang Mai. We were in Chiang Mai for a family wedding and the hotel staff, everyone from the bellboys to the reception staff were absolutely fantastic.

Excellent value for money and the Sunday market right outside the hotel is fantastic. Would recommend this hotel to anyone and would urge you to even spend one night there when you visit Chaing Mai.
