“So much to enjoy at Yaang Come Village

We liked the feeling that we were going back to the area of Yunnan province in China called Sip Song Panna (twelve thousand rice fields) or Xishuangbanna, the origin of the Thais before they came to the Chiang Mai area to develop the Lanna (million rice fields) kingdom. We enjoyed seeing that the buildings are designed, decorated, and laid out in the manner of an old Sip Song Panna village with the center of interest being the yaang (Indian rubber) tree named "yaang come," next to the main sala, or reception area. We liked many of the objects that decorated our room, and we found we could buy almost any one of them and take it home. We enjoyed dinner in the Yaang Come restaurant which offers a good menu and gives you a convenient 6 p.m. start on the night market, only 4 minutes away. One night probably is not enough to cover all of the night market. If you love Indian food, we recommend the murgh makhani or butter chicken at The Restaurant at the Chedi Hotel on the Ping River, a short walk from Yaang Come. We have tried murgh makhani all over the world and we found it was especially delicious here, probably because the chef is from Mumbai.

Because we were repeat guests at Yaang Come Village, we were surprised to receive extra benefits. We had a fragrant flower and fresh fruit in our room every day. We received discount coupons for the restaurant and spa and a free two-hour Thai massage in the room.

A large multi-story hotel is being constructed behind the Village, but when we were there, there was not much construction noise.

We had a delightful stay, and we feel that the friendliness of the staff and natural surroundings amidst growing numbers of concrete box hotels made Yaang Come Village an outstanding value for the price. We will be back.”
