Short review of YMCA Chiang Rai.

Cheap and reasonable accommodation, incredibly friendly staff. The food served in the restaurant was delicious and tasty and prices seemed fair.
Hotel is placed outside the city centre which to some might seem like a bad thing. However, I found that the location offered only very little noise from traffic and street life in general, which is a good thing. Be advised, however, that there is a ten-minute drive to downtown Chiang Rai.
