Don't go during Songkran holidays

by laprade from Bangkok, Thailand, 19 Apr 08

Quite poor service and cleanliness in the restaurant, due to the overcrowded hotel (?) but the food is good at a reasonable price.
Rooms are comfortable but renovation is suggested.

Beautiful golf course to be renovated as well.
To be retested outside public holidays.

Avoid this hotel

by Anonymous User, 22 Nov 05

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The bathroom is small and old. It is far away from town and it cost you 600 Baht to travel 1-way to town! The lift does not work sometimes and the door could not be closed without a hard bang. Please do not be deceive by the hotel's website. According to the manager, it was done by the previous owner and has not been updated since.

Never come back to this hotel again!

by KC from Sydney, Australia, 10 Apr 06

Totally agree with the previous review. The "honeymoon" suite is a total scam. According to the hotel's website, the honeymoon suite has a jacuzzi. What jacuzzi? more like a small stained bath tub with low water pressure. While other hotels offer a great spread of hearty breakfast buffet, this hotel offers only toast n coffee, eggs n ham. The "private" beach is a far cry from the white sandy beaches of some other Thai resorts. We booked for 4 nights but left after 1 night to stay in Hua Hin town. We enjoyed Thailand very much if not for this bad experience.

No need to book this hotel

by Volker Rebel from Germany, 15 Sep 06

The hotel is a huge building with 31 floors. If I estimated correctly, it should have around 1,000 rooms/suites. However, most of the building is not finished!!! At floors 29 to 31 is nothing, no windows, no walls, etc. At the other floors some rooms are finished most of it are not finished.

Construction works are ongoing (I traced approx. 5 civil workers). Under these circumstances it was really surprising in what poor conditions the rooms were we lived in or looked at (after two days we changed from a very, very poor suite to a just very poor suite). Unfortunately, the new suite had a carpet floor but I could not trace any vacuum cleaner with the room maids. Depending on the quantity of hotel guests there was a breakfast buffet (Thai standard) or you had the choice between Thai or American breakfast.

The one way fare for a car from the hotel to Hua Hin was THB 300,- which is OK. The junior suite had two bedrooms, one big living room (not much furniture in) and two small bathrooms. Most of the time we had the complete bay (beach) for us alone.

We'll never come back, either to Milford Paradis or to Hua Hin!

by Anonymous User from Helsinki, Finland, 18 Jan 07

We were a group of six visiting Hua Hin just after X-mas 06. The hotel is clearly designed for local travellers and condo owners. That made it charming and interesting in a way. We had the opportunity to see how New Year is celebrated b locals. The beach and pool area is fine. Everything is clean. The food is good in the restaurant and the staff is polite and helpful.

However, we decided to leave the hotel for a better one down town Hua Hin mainly due to the language barrier. There was only one person in the reception able to speak English. This resulted in a lot of trouble. The list of unsatisfying events is too long to write starting from two days of cold water to not getting breakfast before the golf round.

The hotel is absolutely not suitable for tourist with western standards. - The resort has potential but it needs a lot of investment before it can meet the needs of a holiday maker.

Will go again

by David Browne from Perrth Australia, 27 Jan 07

We stayed in a 3 bedroom family unit for 6 nights. Everything was quite clean and comfortable once we got the air cons working (with help from the staff)
A fair way out of town so no newspapers.

Friday and Sat nights were very noisy with big groups partying. Breakfast was good and staff were very helpful. Magnificent ocean views. Very good value for money.

A place for local tourists

by from Sweden, 11 Sep 07

The Milford Plaza is a place that does not stands up to the homepage. We wanted a golf resort at the sea and this is the only one in the Hua Hin area. The golf course was not at good standard.

The staff was very friendly and tried to do everything to please us however we expected a higher standard.

Don't expect too much and get still surprised

by Anonymous User from Finland, 31 Dec 07

Cleanliness: staff took care of the room very well but in generally - e.g. restaurant area etc.- should be much cleaner and wonder why it isn't cause there are staff enough to, maybe it is a culture question).

English: moderate in reception but in restaurant some might lose his temper with misunderstandings.

Location: beautiful, quiet (20 mins to Hua Hin), golf course layout is beautiful (not the easiest one) but the quality of grass is not the one you'll find from Black Mountain or Springfield - however here you can walk 18 holes in almost 2 hours and have a feeling of a "private" course.

Building: wonder why such a huge and ugly monument was created, still and most likely forever many unfinished rooms and floors? Can't be a business to it's owners.

Extras: It's beautiful to follow dolphins jumping in the sea while having a breakfast (naturally not guaranteed on every morning :)
