Went and moved in twice
by p. yarborough from hawaii and finland, 6 Oct 07
Yes, I could move in! Actually I returned two months after my first stay in this great hotel. Location could not be better: The staff was most helpful. The breakfast was wonderful, better than any cafe or restaurant in town! The special evening buffets, seafood, Thai and international, were fantastic! I brought my many friends to spend my birthday at the garden seafood buffet. They still talk about the food. I lived in the hotel first time two weeks and second time a month! Every night wonderful live music performed by a great band.
There were many activities in the garden organized by the staff, from flower arranging to Thai language lessons and anything in between! I think this is the best hotel in town! I travel a lot and have seen a lot of different hotels, some good and some not so good. This one is great. Of course not so great if you are used to living in a palace and have have a world best chef at your disposal.

Quite a dissapointment
by Arnold A. Batten from Bangkok Thailand/The Netherlands, 1 May 07
Novotel Tipviman is a nice hotel from the outside and by reputation it should be fine. We did not book through AtSiam because we have a corporate contract with Novotel but the price is just about the same as you find here at AtSiam. We booked 4 Deluxe Rooms on the 20th floor for a short family trip. After checking in we discovered they messed up at the counter because we had requested 1 double bed and 3 twin beds, but okay these things can happen and they did offer an alternative.
The Room itself was quite disappointing, at first it looks nice and the view is unobstructed seawater. The double bed was very hard and quite narrow. The TV had a bad signal, the bathroom had a bath but the tap was broken, so the bath needed to be filled with the shower head. The air-conditioning was not controllable and was obviously set in economy mode, not too warm but certainly not cool.
The pool is nice, quite big and suitable for children and a big deep pool for swimming. The Beach is a disappointment, not much sand, mostly rocks and at high tide there is no beach at all. Next to the resort a canal streams into the sea so the water is not very clean. Most people therefore used the pool.
The second day was the start of the low season and the hotel was very very overcrowded, it was impossible to find a breakfast table for our group but then as we experienced the breakfast buffet was extensive but the taste left some to be wished for. So we decided to have breakfast at the cafe.
On all occasions the staff was very friendly and helpful really pleasant, also at the spa, the massage I had was excellent and professional.
Overall not my choice of hotel and we will not return.
