Would go back

by VJR from UK, 7 Oct 08

Nice hotel on the beach, although the beach was quite badly littered. The pool was out of action and there was a lot of construction going on during our stay, which would have been nice to know in advance.

Otherwise good for the money and the quieter end of Kho Chang

OK resort

by from Netherlands, 13 Sep 07

The beach is beautiful. The rooms too, the staff is friendly, the restaurant is not so good, the breakfast isn't that great too.

The bathroom was not very clean, but the swimming pool and service were good.

Overall .... OK!

Relax

by Dr. Wendell J. Rosevear from Brisbane, Australia, 17 Aug 07

If you want to relax and feel totally at peace, this is the place. It is simply beautiful. One of the nicest, value for money resorts on Koh Chang. Go to Tree house next door up if you want a relaxing, cheap feed. The gardens are beautiful and the beach had the best waves we saw on the Island. They welcomed my boyfriend and I. We'd return.

Koh Chang , to much development

by tim chapman from UK, 23 Mar 07

The staff are the best asset of the hotel. The rooms are dated and generally the hotel needs a bit of an upgrade. The restaurant food was good but inevitably expensive. The pools are nice but like the rooms needs a bit of a clean. We have stayed before a few years ago and naturally were impressed as we went back, Sady, despite being a National Park, Koh Chang is fast becoming another Thai building site and for this reason we will not return any time soon.

Lonely Beach is the attraction

by Don from Shanghai, China, 7 Mar 07

Stayed there for 9 days during Chinese new year. Interesting enough, no other Chinese there except me & my wife; which is ok. Hotel is good nice, but with problems. Stayed in room 222, which is the best room in this property; Seaview Deluxe 2nd fl. Even so, its water pressure is low, take 3 hours to fill the tub for bubble bath; it is still worth the annoyance. Because the bathroom is outdoor, where else you can watch the stars and milky way while in a tub with your love one! We actually started filling up the tub when going out for dinner so that the tub is ready when we get home at night; Funny but true.

Also the adjacent bar play loud music until 1am, which can be disturbing for some of the rooms in the hotel. Comment for food is identical to all others, besides the rest/bar next door and in the adjacent town have great food.

Service is mostly good. The double layer pool is great to swim, beach is not busy, sand is super soft, great sunset everyday. Beach front outdoor massage 250B/Hr is great, renting a little scooter for 250B/day works well.

As the titled said, Lonely beach is the attraction, Bhumiyama is the only upscale hotel there. Can't beat the price considering the whole experience you get. Will go back to KC for sure, but probably not the same hotel again. Would still strongly recommend it for folks who need a charming beach get away and need a decent place to curl up with your darling at night.

What a gem !

by Peter from London, 24 Oct 06

We were there in mid Oct but the Bhumiyama seemed quiet crowded already which was to our surprised. Then we realized why after we went to check out other high end hotels on Koh Chang. Compare the price, location and what you get for your money. Bhumiyama wins hands down. It is unpretentious, the staffs are warm (but English could be improved).

If you are looking for a totally relaxing rest (no night life heavy crowd) great beach, excellent pools and beautiful sunset which I expect would be more so without the rain, this is definitely the place. Can't wait to go back for our honeymoon.

Check it out!!

by Joky&Cherrie from Bangkok, Thailand, 5 Oct 06

We were impressed by the real nature surrounding us, blue sea, clean beach and green mountain. The resort is so calm it's suitable for those who want to relax. Staffs here are quite nice and helpful except reservation staff from Bkk branch (that's why we use this web instead). Room and facilities are close to 4 stars hotel.

If you love to touch both sea and mountain in tranquil atmosphere, Check it out!!

Great place

by Boaz from San Francisco, CA, 5 Sep 06

The Bhumiyama is a very nice place with a fantastic pool and probably the best beach. I would go back just note the following things:

- The restaurant is pretty bad.
- The location is remote, but this makes for a beautiful beach probably the best on Koh Chang.
- On the beach in either direction you have some nice places to eat.
- If you have your own car you will have no problems going to eat where ever.
- If you go during low season expect some construction. This is when they fix the hotels up. Ask for a room far from any work.

Over all I am going back to this place.

Away from the crowds

by Rebecca from Birmingham, England, 25 May 06

On the best beach on Koh Chang. Bhumiyama is the only up-market hotel on Lonely Beach, which means most other people around are backpackers - which was fine by us. It also means that restaurants around are very cheap and The Tree House next door is excellent. Probably four or five restaurants within a 10 minute stroll.

Breakfast was ok, though not spectacular, and the restaurant is no better than the cheaper alternatives around it. Nice rooms and excellent pool area.

I would definitely go back any time!

Make sure to visit Lonely Beach

by Anonymous user, 16 May 06

Lonely Beach, where the Bhumiyama Hotel is located, is an amazing beach with great sand and warm calm waters that is ideal for relaxing. It's far more private than the more publicized beaches at White Sand and Kai Bae.

Although the outdoor bathroom was interesting, the room overall was average and the air-conditioner took awhile to get the space cool. The hotel grounds was also a little in need of some upkeep. The food at the restaurant was unremarkable although the staff there was extremely friendly and helpful. Some of the staff at the front desk (esp. the lady with the glasses), however, were more difficult and didn't go out of their way to assist you.

Lonely Beach is quite a distance from the other sites of Koh Chang so renting a motorbike would be highly recommended. Also make sure to visit some of the seafood restaurants at Bang Bao - well worth it
