Clean and new

by Peter from Denmark, 25 May 06

Nice, mostly new rooms close to the beach. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.

On the busiest beach on the island, meaning there are lots of places to eat and decent shopping, if that is why you came...

New, very busy pool area, so get there early if you want to beat the Germans to a sun lounger!!

Breakfast as excepted.

We would definately return to this resort.

by peter allen from Winnipeg, Manitoba Canada, 4 Mar 07

We had a most enjoyable stay at Koh Chang Kacha. Upon check in we were pleased that the desk attendant spoke excellent English. Our room was very nice; in need of a little work, but very nice just the same. The pool was wonderful as was the beach and the breakfast that was included with the room.

We spent a month in Thailand and Koh Chang was a great spot if your looking for a more relaxed, less crowded atmosphere.

worst place I have ever visited in Thailand

by Noordhof from Holland, 23 Apr 07

Because we visited Koh Chang during Thai new year, we booked in advance. That was a good thought because almost every resort was fully booked.

However, we booked the wrong resort. We stayed in a superior villa. All windows were broken, the sheets were yellow in stead of white, the bathroom was filthy with toothpaste and shaving-gell of the guests before us (or before them, who knows?) on the broken mirror, 2 of the 5 light-switches did not work and there was a bookwork in the room that states what the costs are of every single feature in the room. Not really what you would suspect to be the Thai-way.

Eventhough the pool is nice, do not go to this place. The chances of staying near the pool are limited, unless you want to wake up before 7 to claim a bed.

I am very sorry, but I cannot write anything positive about this resort. I have also informed the management. They responded rather ignorant. And why shouldn't they. They seem to be running a rather profitable cash-cow.

Choose your room carefully

by Thomas from Denmark, 14 Aug 07

There is a huge difference between the quality of the rooms. We were a group staying in 3 rooms. Even though the rooms were same category they differed a lot both location wise and in terms of how nice they looked.

We really liked it.

by Irina from Moscow, Russia., 16 Jul 07

We spent 6 days at Kacha Resort is Superior Villa and liked it very much.
Firstly we got a ground floor room, but next day we asked to change it and got a first floor, which is really better, because you have more privacy sitting on the balcony versus the terrace near some sidewalk. If you are offered a ground floor, I really recommend to change it immediately during check-in.

I cannot say that we were admired of the hotel, but is has all that you need, and I'm absolutely disagree with the above comment mentioned some dirt or unrepaired items. Among 3 stars hotels - Kacha is an excellent choice. Especially we enjoyed the sea which was just 2 steps from any room - you will never get such option if stay in a huge hotel.

Breakfast has an ordinary choice of foods - bakery, eggs, bacon...etc. Of course, you will not get an incredible variety as you might have in some Turkish or Egyptian resort, but you've come to Thailand, right?

Memorable stay.

by Jennifer C. from Singapore, 6 Jul 07

I and my family (husband & 2 kids) enjoyed our stay at Koh Chang Kacha. We stayed in another hotel but got to know Kacha resort during a beachside walk. We walked in and requested for a Superior Villa (seaview) but all the seaview rooms were all occupied. But we were still lucky that we got a Deluxe building room with a little extra expense. We got a nice seaview room. The room was very new, clean and spacious.

Our kids loved the swimming pool very, very much that they spent hours for a whole afternoon in the pool. Breakfast buffet had many Thai and European choices including fresh fruits. Dinners with sunset before the eyes were so... unforgettable. Friendly staffs were very helpful with our tour around the island. Highly recommended for families with kids.

An excellent choice for a short break.

by Clive BARRATT from New South Wales, Australia, 18 Sep 07

Spent a long weekend here in late August. The resort itself was in immaculate condition. Our beach side bungalow was very nice - very clean with a huge bathroom and very large sunken bathtub.

The pool area, whilst not massive, was extremely well maintained with lots of loungers and a sunken pool bar with reasonable prices.

The location of the resort itself is at the North end of the island about 10 mins drive from the ferry terminal.

Having driven around the island, White Sand Beach, where the resort is located, seems like one of the livelier places to stay - although Koh Chang is certainly not one of the busiest Thai islands - unless you are content to laze on a beach for days on end there is probably not much on Koh Chang to keep the active person amused for more than a few days - but as a place to chill out and relax it's a very good bet.

The food in the resort was excellent quality although it has to be said that the restaurant did not seem overly popular as a short walk along the beach brings you to other restaurants which were slightly cheaper and still excellent quality.
The staff at Kacha Resort were excellent - they really were very helpful and always cheerful.

All in all, an excellent venue - a great location, reasonably priced, friendly staff, nice accommodation - would definitely go back.

Best resort at white sand beach

by Moelans Karel from Schilde (Belgium), 26 Sep 07

We had a nice stay at Katcha Resort. A bit short but we love to visiting again. Everything was very good, we don't have complains. The food in the resort was not so good.

Highly recommended!!

by Gamunu from Surrey, United Kingdom, 30 Sep 07

We went at end of July and spent 5 days in Koh Chang, it was amazing, the hotel is located very centrally to other restaurants, shops and tour operators. It was really nice to have other restaurants to try as a change from the hotel. The food in the hotel is good, the only problem is some of the staff do not know proper English and sometimes it was a challenge to order things.

The swimming pool is a great size and brilliant for children and the beach is a stones throw away. The rooms were a good size, and the hotel organized many trips around the island, but you could easily hire a car or bike and travel around the island.

We only had one big issue was the umbrellas! They have your room number on them so if it rains and you use it to go to the hotel restaurant just make sure u don't get it mixed up with someone elses as you will be charged for missing umbrellas.

But overall I highly recommend this hotel.

Very close to the beach and pool. Service is good. Room design is good and suitable for family.

Food price is too expensive.
