Hotel is close to everywhere

by Lucia Chan from Hong Kong, 21 Nov 05

The location is perfect. Just a few steps to the beach. And there's a big Supermarket just at the back of the hotel. Very convenient!! The room is nice & simple. But the air-condition of my room is rubbish. Ice falling down from the air-con in middle of my sleep, then noisy sound. Next night, the air-con is not working at all... Glad that it's not too hot.. The staff is a bit rude & not helpfully at all. Maybe the hotel rate is cheap, so better not expect too much.

Nice

by CL, 13 Dec 05

Beautifully decorated room. The pool is very small but that is ok as you have the ocean just next to the pool.

Breakfast spread was good. However try to avoid the cut fruits!.

Good value for money

by Anonymous user, 13 Dec 05

The location was excellent. The breakfast was good. The room were clean but sometimes we found bugs. The staff at the reception were sometimes not so kindly. One more thing that could be better is the safety box. It is inconvenient to deposit money for the safety box as to dragging it with you wherever you go.

by Zuberi from Karachi, Pakistan., 26 Jan 06

Al's Resort is located in the heart of Central Chaweng Beach with minutes walk from the Green Mango Strip. Great Value for Money, Great Resort with a helpful staff. Highly Recommended!

Best hotel in this price range

by Allyson Bowes/Roland Cox from Perth, Western Australia, 18 Mar 06

After having checked out all the other hotels along Chaweng beach, we found Al's to be the best value for money and in a great location. The buffet breakfast was excellent. Only complaint, the hot water only lasted a couple of minutes so hard to wash long hair in that time!

We really cannot wait to go back and won't hesitate to book at Al's Resort

by Christine Shannon from NSW, Australia, 18 May 06

We always book for 2 nights in any place we are visiting and then decide where we will spend the rest of our vacation. After realising the location was excellent, the rooms were very comfortable, that it was right on the beach (and importantly the area of the beach that you can swim in because you have to be careful that the accommodation isn't at the northern end of the beach where the water is full of rocks) we booked for the remainder of our holiday. Any of the rooms would be fine to stay in (we stayed in one of the cabins although looked in the garden view rooms and would have been happy in one of them). I think the difference between the cabins and the garden view rooms is the cabin has a bath and continual hot water and garden view has a small hot water system and only a shower (probably does 2 quick showers, before having to heat back up but I believe it heats up very quickly). I only used the shower to wash my clothes in anyway!

There is a supermarket next door to the resort which is great to buy your supplies. We took the hotel bar supplies out of the fridge and stocked up from the supermarket. The entrance to Al's Resort is right in the hub of the main shopping area and a 1 minute walk to the bars and night life.

We walked the beach and the streets and decided when we go back we will definitely stay at Al's for our next visit. It really is in a great location. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

If you are going to Koh Samui (and you'd be mad not to go there) you couldn't find a better location than this resort.

We will be back!!!

by Connie from HK, 21 Mar 06

This is my honeymoon is Koh Samui, and we are pleased to stay at this hotel, because when we moved in to the room, they have already prepare the honeymoon decoration for us.

And they have a very good location, just next to the supermarket and near the shopping area! And the buffet are very nice too! The swimming pool is very beautiful, just next to the beach. A very good place to relax.

Good value Good location!

by Anonymous User from Bath, England, 18 Apr 06

We stayed at A'ls resort over Xmas 2005. We choose it as it was cheaper than a lot of the other resorts on the beach with the same facilities. The rooms were very nice although the deluxe sea view is a bit of a con as the bungalows are in 2 rows facing each other with gardens in between, they are just a bit closer to the beach not worth paying the extra for.

The staff seemed pleasant enough. The included buffet breakfast was good although the restaurant looks a bit like an airport terminal from outside! The pool area is really nice and looks over the beach. The resort is in a great location close to bars and restaurants.

We felt it was good value for money!

Fabulous resort except for the ladies at the reception

by JEANETTE from Bangkok, Thailand, 13 Aug 06

Every time I go to Samui I stay at Al's Resort ... the location and resort is fantastic! One thing I will warn you about is the lady at the reception ... she maybe might not be the nicest person. Mind you, she might be nicer to 'Farangs' but I wouldn't' bet my money on it. So if you keep your visits to the reception to a minimum you will have a great time.

The morning buffet is more than enough to fill you until lunch and the staff there and at the pool are fantastic!!!

Great location! Can't beat it!

by Melissa K from Toronto, Canada, 3 Jul 06

I was recommended to Al's Resort by a friend who had recently stayed there. I heard good things about it, and I wasn't too disappointed.

The location is EXCELLENT... right on the beach... right off the main street... close to pretty much everything. The beach was great: nice, white sand and quite clean. There were lots of sellers, but they didn't bother me. The pool at Al's is really nice also... right on top of the beach with comfy loungers. The food is pretty good... breakfast was nice, but served in the restaurant with no a/c and very little circulated air. It was difficult to really enjoy a leisurely breakfast when I was sweating already!

I was not greeted warmly at all...there had been a mix-up with the booking and, apparently, I did not have a reservation. This, after traveling all morning from another island. The lady in reception was less than friendly, and actually raised her voice to me! Rolling her eyes and muttering under her breath, she was quite rude. She had a hard time using a polite voice to explain to me what was going on. It ended up that I would stay in one room for the first night and then to another for the duration of my stay. Fine.

The first room was lovely... simple, yet clean and elegant. Very comfortable. Really wonderful. However, the second room's bed was absolutely horrible. I felt like I was sleeping on a slab of wood with a layer of concrete for padding. Absolutely the worst bed I've ever slept in...my joints were SO sore! But nothing could be done because "all the rooms are full, miss". Well...

All in all, I had a good time. For what I paid, it was a super deal! I would go back, but do my very best to ensure a nicer, more comfortable bed. But for the location, you can't beat it!
