Al' s Resort

by Antonio Cioffi from ITALY, 18 Aug 06

Room basic but comfortable - if you want more luxury choose seaside room.
Pool very good. Beach clean, see beautiful, passing vendor not disturbing.
Location very good, in the middle of action at Chaweng Beach, whit a good security service and near a supermarket and a tourist agency and motorbike rent.

Staff always ready and willing always at your disposal. Excellent value for money.

Booking with AtSiam.com worked perfectly and a resort car waited me at my arrive at Samui airport.

A perfect vacation!

by Mariam Mukaty from Karachi, Pakistan, 11 Sep 06

Overall it was great! We chose Al's Resort for its location (just a few minutes walk from all the nightlife, a 30-second walk from one of the main grocery stores, and essentially its smack in the middle of Chaweng Beach).

We were completely charmed by its rooms when we arrived. Clean, simple rooms, smiling service, and of course, a fabulous beach and pool made our trip fantastic.

A few points to be wary of though... Little English is spoken at Al's, making it a little bit harder to communicate what you want (but they did make every effort to understand). They also seem to run out of beach towels before the sun is fully up. And when you're lucky enough to get a towel, you realise it's hardly in a shape to be used (full of holes). But that shouldn't stop anyone from staying at this gorgeous resort. Just buy a towel if you need to, or ask housekeeping for extras.

Good location, Unhappy staff

by Anonymous User from BKK, Thailand, 13 Sep 06

Just got back from Samui. We stayed at this resort. Good location, but staff are not helpful at all. They seem to be very unhappy. When we asked them for something it was like we disturbed them, especially staff in Reception section. We stayed in one of the garden room. It was average.

Even though the price is reasonable, the location is great ... we are not going back there again.

We enjoyed Al's Resort but got what we paid for

by Anonymous User from Dublin, 13 Sep 06

Well, Al's Resort was fine for the price we paid. A garden view room was clean changed sheets towels daily. The only part of the room I didn't like was the bathroom ... but after a week you forget u didn't like it in the beginning. Location is excellent in the centre of all activities.

Don't go

by bar from Israel, 16 Sep 06

The attitude of the reception desk was shocking when we ordered the room we asked for non smoking room ,the room that we received was really stinking from cigarette's. The lady at the reception didn't like our request and was very rude.

Definitely would stay again

by DONNA FELSTEAD from Cumbria,UK, 20 Oct 06

Great location!!! Just a short walk to the nightlife, but amazingly quiet at night which you don't normally get both! There’s a supermarket close by which is very handy too. The rooms were very modern we stayed in a beach view room as the garden view were fully booked, both rooms are exactly the same your just a bit near to the beach so I would save your money and just go for the garden view! But I must say the Villa Suites looked very nice if you want a nice treat!

Breakfast was good lots of variety and the staff were very helpful. Would definitely stay their again.

Very good location; all else, tolerable.

by Anonymous User from San Francisco, CA, 30 Nov 06

Very good location. Nice beach right in front. No real view of the sea from the 'Ocean View' rooms. Staff tolerable. Breakfast tolerable. Good value. Al's Hut offers a more green setting outside the bungalows on your way to the beach front.

Cheap, boutique hotel on the beach!

by Kelly from Los Angeles, CA, 13 Dec 06

Al's Resort may not have the amenities or personal service that I typically enjoy, but you simply can't beat the location and price! I even had a massage at Al's spa (which isn't a spa, but rather a relaxing open room on the beach where you can enjoy a $8/hr massage while you idly gaze at the ocean).

Definitely one of the cheapest and best locations on Chaweng Beach. It's walking distance to all the main shops, restaurants and bars in Koh Samui island. The standard rooms are quite attractive, well kept, air conditioned, and only a few steps from the beach!

Note: None of the rooms have ocean views, and they're all adjacent, so only book a standard or else you'll end up disappointed.

Al's Resort is a great home-base from which to explore the island, but is certainly not a destination in and of itself... No award-winning restaurant or pool, and with all fairness the hotel service is rather non-existent, but sometimes all you really need is a nice, affordable bungalow on the beach.

Choose the location

by Puma from China, 12 Jan 07

The first time when I went to Koh Samui, found this hotel in the yard of a supermarket. So booked it when I went back to this island. Al's Resort is quit OK for staying. Excellent thing is the location.

Pretty Good

by Wendy from Hong Kong, 14 Jan 07

Can't afford luxury hotel, it is the best choice with tight budget and good location (near supermarket, rental cars co and beach as well). Breakfast is good with basic American and Chinese food, bedroom not enough lighting and not clean but acceptable. AtSiam.com staff are very helpful as well.
