Pool policy - an example to follow

by Vladimir from Murmansk, Russia, 19 Feb 08

Just to add to the praises and pros - the pool policy!!! If a towel is on the sunbed about 30 min and nobody's around - the staff just takes it away and the sunbed is free. Perfect against i-care-for-nobody-idiots who occupy sunbeds at 6 am, go for their business and then return at 5 pm. As a result you can ALWAYS find a free place.

A free upgrade offered when checking in was a nice touch too.

A true paradise resort

by Anonymous user from Ottawa, Canada, 23 May 05

Amari Palm Reef is a tropical paradise. The resort is beautiful. The service is excellent and the staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I could go on and on. The breakfast buffet is one of the nicest and best I have ever had. The environment is conducive to relaxation. We sat by the pool for hours at a time and treated ourselves to the most amazing spa treatments. Granted you can get massages, etc. for less on the beach but the quality and comfort the resort spa has to offer is well worth the price.

This resort has all you need, you don't have to leave the grounds to have a totally, relaxing, enjoyable vacation. I would go back in a heart beat

Very pleasant surprise

by D. Purrington, 23 May 05

The location of the hotel was ideal - quieter than some of the other hotels in Chaweng but still only 10 mins walk away from the nightlife and shopping. Service always came with a smile - frontdesk, restaurant, housekeeping and pool staff were not only very friendly but also efficient.

Overall we got the impression that the hotel was very well maintained and managed.

This was our first stay in an Amari hotel - we would return to the Amari Reef again on our next trip to Koh Samui and will consider staying with this chain elsewhere.

No major complaints but not paradise

by Marion Faerber from Hong Kong, 23 Aug 05

We enjoyed our stay a lot, the food was great, service efficient (our room was cleaned be the time we returned from breakfast almost every day) and in general, the hotel grounds are very nice. The drawbacks are having to cross a busy road to get to our room and the noise of airplanes taking off and landing, particularly in the evening when we sat on the balcony trying to relax.

There could also be more facilities for children, but all in all it is a hotel I would recommend.

It's really very relaxing and SAFE!

by Nancy Shee from Singapore, 7 Dec 05

My hubby and I went for Honeymoon in Samui from 28th Nov ~ 2nd Dec 2005,we enjoyed our 5 days stay with Amari a lot.

We got a pleasant surprise from the hotel staffs on our arrival to the deluxe room. There were some fruits and 'Happy Honeymoon' cake awaiting for us in our room. That was indeed sweet. The setting of the room was so cosy that we spent quite some time in the room reading and enjoying each other company. Though it was a raining season in Samui, it didn't dampen our spirit a bit as we were so indulged in the Spa package we took with Amari.

The 5 hours Spa was so relaxing and having a massage and scrub with mother nature was so enjoyable that my hubby actually fell asleep during the spa session. This is an experience that we can't find in Singapore. Though the price might be steeper than other spas around Samui but we truly feel that it is worth every single cent. We were totally refreshed after doing the spa. A must try for those staying in Amari.

Breakfast spread was so pampering. There are so much selections and we totally enjoyed having breakfast in Amari. We went for the seafood buffet in Amari and we enjoyed the cosy ambience's and the friendly waitress who were always so willing to assist us. We felt so pampered with their attention.

Prego was another must go for those in Amari, it's nice and the price was so reasonable. My hubby especially love the ambience's. One thing to highlight is that during one rainy night, the waitress will put an mosquito repellent burner near your legs to rid of mosquito. Great thought! At least it reduced the chances of being attacked by 'mosquitoes'.

Amari Palm Reef is a good place to stay in, safe and cosy. If you have that budget, settled for it!

Amari is the best

by Toby from London, 14 Feb 06

The Amari is a dream hotel. The staff actually make your holiday, they are so helpful. We have been for 5 years running, we go again in march for our 6th visit. The food is wonderful, the breakfast is so good you could actually ask for anymore choice. The cleanliness is outstanding. The hotel is quite pricey but it is worth every penny. The situation of the hotel is good, far enough away from the main street to escape the noise, but close enough to walk. I would stay anywhere else. The staff are wonderful and surprised my husband with a birthday cake in the room last year which was a really nice touch.

Disappointed

by Elizabeth Tosti from Sydney, Australia, 27 Mar 06

We only had one night at this hotel and were disappointed with it. We were kept waiting 3 hrs to check in, however, check in is at 2.00pm and we arrived at 12.00pm so we should only complain about one hour wait. Unfortunately, with the late check in and since we were only staying for one night, the best part of the day was wasted for us.

Our deluxe room seemed to be miles away from the beach/reception and main pool area and although it was very clean and new, the balcony did not have comfortable chairs or any privacy.

The beach at this end of Chaweng beach is not very nice for swimming - very shallow water and lots of rocks/weeds underfoot. The pool was OK, but not enormous. The breakfast buffet was excellent - one of the biggest and best selection of food I have experienced.

Overall, I would not go back here.

Paradise

by Terrence Edward Britton from Wales, UK, 16 Apr 06

We arrived at the Amari Palm Reef on 26 March 2006 for 2 weeks, when we arrived we were allocated a ground floor room with terrace. We asked the receptionist if it was possibly for us to change this to a room with balcony, within 10 minutes this was arranged without any hassle. The hotel and staff were absolutely superb, we have stayed in many beach resorts but this was just outstanding.

The gardens and pool areas were kept to a very high standard at all times as were the rooms and restaurants. My husband really enjoyed the breakfast which catered for all nationalities. The beach is covered by well shaded trees but be careful if sunbathing as the sun is extremely strong even when there is cloud and wind. The staff were very friendly and polite and always willing to help if needed.

We would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly use the Amari Palm Reef if we return to Koh Samui.
