Construction work next door! A real shame!

by Maylis from Paris, France, 5 Aug 08

We booked 2 nights in a boutique hotel we thought would be like an isolated paradise (see their website!). Instead of that, you're stuck in between two other hotels, one being built up until at least November! So basically, you have construction workers having a plunging view over your room with private dip pool from 8am to 6pm!!!

We were given the room that was the closest to the construction. Not even 1 meter away. You cannot imagine the noise! We immediately asked to change rooms, which they initially said was not possible because the hotel was full.
After an endless negotiation, we ended up being moved on the other side of the hotel, which was slightly quieter. But we requested to live the day after and to be reimbursed for the second night. It's a real scandal that they did not close the right side of the hotel until construction is finished. Customers kept coming in and leaving after seeing the truth.

The worst is that on the other side of the hotel, there is an empty field with what looks like construction on its way.

Honestly, I can't even believe we paid 150 euros for spending a night and a day with a hammer resonating in our heads!

Other than that, the rooms were beautiful and spotless. And the staff was nice and sorry for everything.

No worth for the money

by Anna from Finland, 12 Apr 08

There as a construction next to the hotel. It was really disturbing, you thought of paying for the peace but no way! The beach was disappointment no privacy at all. No worth the money.

However, the rooms were beautiful and the staff was Okey. Breakfast was Ok.

Almost Perfect Village!

by Nee & Koji from Tochigi, Japan, 29 Jun 08

I fully enjoyed staying at Buri Rasa Village in Samui. The staffs were very friendly and the location was perfect. Why don't you (love tropical islands) go to this hotel! But I must add a comment about the construction. It was very noisy, so you had better go out at day time including weekend.

We will miss so badly this little piece of paradise!

by Sabrina Bonardi from Shanghai,PRC, 16 Aug 05

Our experience has been absolutely satisfactory. Eventually would be nice to have also a choice of local food at the restaurant; anyway very close to the hotel there are a couple of interesting restaurants serving exceptional Thai/ Fusion cuisine.

You couldn't do better!!

by Anonymous User from Sydney, Australia, 10 Nov 05

We stayed in a garden room with dip pool at the Buri Rasa in November 2005 and couldn't fault it. It was everything the pictures promised. The room was lovely and spotlessly clean. Breakfast was great - a good selection with your hot choice cooked to order. Magnificent pool right on the beach. The location couldn't have been better - right in the centre of things while still very quiet.

We will definitely be recommending the Buri Rasa to all our friends and can't wait to go back.

We will be going back!

by Barry Hall from Wainwright, AB, Canada, 12 Dec 05

Our stay was during the two day monsoon resulting in flooding, the staff and management bent over backwards to make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The location was perfect, the beach was beautiful. I definately recommend this hotel.

Sure to be back!

by Irene from ROC, 21 Dec 05

This resort is worth every $ and conveniently located right at the heart of Chaweng beach. I would say better than most 4-5 star hotels/resorts. But more to be done on the breakfast table. The food were so-so at the restaurant. Would recommend everyone to stay at this cozy resort.

Fantastic!!

by Maria Steven from Denmark, 16 May 06

This small new hotel is just fantastic. We have visited Koh Samui several times, but Buri Rasa Village has given us the most relaxing holiday in Thailand ever!

Besides the most incredible service, no travel agencies have this hotel as a destination yet - at least not to our notice. This makes the experience much more private.

Do have dinner at the beach side restaurant - very romantic and excellent food.

Buri Rasa Rocks

by David Bavage from New Zealand, 2 Oct 06

We stayed at Buri Rasa on our honeymoon over 8 nights, the hotel itself, the rooms and the grounds are beautiful, the staff were great and the food was very good. Buri Rasa is not a big hotel, I'd call it more boutique, it's more intimate and personal and I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who wants something a bit special.

Overall a great experience

by from Hong Kong, 25 Feb 07

We had a wonderful time at Buri Rasa. The hotel is located on the best part of Chanweng beach. The room is tactfully simple and elegant, very clean and service at the hotel is excellent. The size of this hotel is perfect, with only about 30 rooms, it's intimate and private. The restaurant is nice and has pretty good western food, but its Thai entrees could use some improvement.

However, we had one unpleasant experience, on our first day there, there was not enough beach chairs on the beach, and the hotel staff was not very good at providing a solution. Instead of maybe try to borrow a chair from the neighboring hotels, they simply told us there was nothing they could do and left us standing in the sun. The hotel should have done a better job at predicting how many chairs are needed given the number of guests staying at the hotel.
