We recommend this hotel as well as this island!
by Family with twin daughters from Hokkaido, Japan, 11 Feb 08
Hotel is located just between the white sandy beach and local restaurants & shopping area. It is very easy to enjoy swimming in the pool in the morning, sun bathing on the beach in the afternoon, and eating out and shopping in town in the evening.
The hotel room is not gorgeous, but comfortable and clean with enough facilities including bathtub in the bath room. An electric water pot is not facilitated in the room. It may be required especially for a family with a baby.
Only problem we faced this time (in February) was the weather. The water temperature of both the swimming pool and sea is relatively low, and it was windy everyday which caused the sea rough. So it is advisable to select high season to enjoy more in swimming pool and sea.
We satisfied with not only this hotel, but also the newly renovated airport. Some part of the shopping area is still under construction, but it is very comfortable to spend time before boarding with free drinks and snacks, children’s play spot, and free Internet service, in the open area. You will also be surprised at the aquarium toilet in the airport!
Koh Samui is a quit enjoyable and well developed resort island. Actually this was our third time to visit here, but we love to come back again and again.

Great place
by Anonymous User from Canada, 5 Feb 08
If you're looking for a place a little away from the hustle and bustle of Koh Samui but still be able to access it when you want, this is a perfect place.
The only annoyance was the one club across the street that played loud music till late at night. Other than that we loved our stay!

Typical Thai Cabin type of place at this price
by Anonymous User from United Kingdom, 30 Jan 08
There are only a few rooms around the actual pool and anything that claims to be "sea view" means if you stick your head out of the window and look down the path you can probably see it through the trees!! The 5 or 6 rooms by the pool may or may not be more attractive - depends if you want everyone at the poolside be able to look through your window/door all day and are probably more noisy as there's people right outside your cabin. At night of course this doesn't matter. Mine was about 30m back from the beach and 90 degrees to it.
The bathroom is basic, electric shower on wall, drains out through hole in wall type of thing, bit tired looking. Main room is good size. The location is right on Chaweng beach, it is quiet as the cabins are away from the road. You can walk to everything you need to along the road or the beach in 10-15 mins but there's loads of taxis. There's a smallish pool which is ok - you won't be doing any fitness training in it, 4 or 5 strokes and you'll be across it but it is fine for sitting at.
Staff were very helpful and the food at the restaurant was good.
Regarding Taxis - unlike everywhere else in Thailand on Samui they refuse to use the meter and you have to agree the price first. To give you an idea 35km would cost you normally about 300 baht or so. So anything on Samui where they want to charge you 200 baht or maybe more for a 10 min / 1-2km journey is a rip off. Normal taxi rate starts at 35 bhat on the meter and gets you about 0.5 - 1km. Negotiate hard and just take another one if you aren't happy. Just because it might be just a few pounds/dollars to you they are still way overcharging - and that's plain wrong.
In summary I would say this place is exactly what you'd expect for a typical 3 star Thai hotel - a modest place that does the job, probably not a place where you'd spend several days chilling by the pool and having drinks in the bar though as it's a little too small / basic to me for that - you'll probably use it as a decent place to sleep in and then head to the beach.

Good middle of the road accommodation
by L. Rogers - age 30 from London, U.K, 17 Apr 06
We have stayed in Chaweng a number of times at different parts. We stayed in a luxurious hotel in North Chaweng and I would still say that the Chaweng Cabana beach in South Chaweng was definitely the best! Location is brill and only about 100 BHT by cab into the centre of Chaweng if you're feeling too lazy to walk.
We had booked a superior sea view room both times. The first time we stayed here we had a fab view of the sea from our first floor room which was gorgeous. We were overlooking the pool the second time so this aspect was a little disappointing and not what we had booked. A fridge/mini bar is provided and although there are mosquitoes this is not reflective of the hotel (they're everywhere in Chaweng!) - a good tropical spray is a good enough deterrant.
The buffet breakfast is basic but food and restaurants in Samui are so so cheap this was not an issue for us. I would recommend the chaweng cabana for people on a bit of a budget but not wanting things to be too basic! We found the cleanliness of the room good and although the bathroom was dated, it was functional and as expected with the price. Not luxury but basic to middle of the road accommodation.
The thing that made us go back was the beach, value for money and the knowledge that it was clean. I'd still go back again!

We'll not come back now
by JL VANNIER from france, 13 Mar 06
For the breakfast, the restaurant closed at 9.30 instead of 10.00. It's a pity because the hotel is a very nice place to stay in.
