Second visit -will be back
by neil mayes from New Zealand, 4 Oct 07
Recently refurbished so rooms were sparkling new - ongoing work was a bit noisy though. Food and drinks a bit overpriced - its a shame because most guests choose to go elsewhere for food etc. so lacks atmosphere in the evenings. The pool is new too, big improvement there.
Enjoyable stay, nice beach - good value in the off peak season.

Simple and great value for money.

Had a fantastic Stay @ Chaweng Cove. Had minor problems with busted pipe in the bathroom ... It was attended to promptly. Great location on the beach .... pool was fantastic also.
Do not highly recommend the restaurant service - a bit slow at night. But there are plenty of inexpensive restaurants only minutes away. Breakfast at the hotel was fine.
Great value for money. Would gladly stay there again.

One to avoid
by Anonymous User, 30 Dec 05
Everything about this resort is old and shabby. The bungalow roof leaked. The beach bar is falling into the sea. The pool is full of drunk yobs every night, making it impossible to sleep. The food is appalling. There are many better locations on Chaweng, don't waste your money here.

Will happily return
by neil thomas mayes from New Zealand, 17 Oct 05
Rooms basic but functional - poor construction (power points falling out of walls) but good value for money. Great beach at your doorstep. Plenty of shops and restaurants just on the street outside (watch out for the shonky Indian "tailors", shabby work).
The sea here is lovely although a few hundred metres south and the beach is littered with building debris and at the end a filthy stinking drain delivers the inevitable cocktail of effluent into the otherwise pristine sea. When will they learn?
The hotel pool is a bit shabby but they are in the process of fixing it so should be OK soon.

Mediocre to Poor Customer Service
by Anonymous user, 4 Aug 05
Overall a decent place. Not responsive to requests. Asked for 2 extra towels each day (and they never caught on that we wanted this every day despite the daily requests). Often said they'd arrive shortly with the 2 towels, then brought only one (repeatedly). Bungalows are decent but need minor repairs. They refused to leave air conditioner on during the daytime claiming "government policy", though I've stayed at Central Samui Resort and Sans Souci without such "government" claims. The room was sweltering after each day's outing and took until bedtime to cool off. Had stayed there for 3 vacations until we explored other hotels. Moved to a different hotel partway through our last (and final) stay there.
Otherwise the location is excellent. The food is great. The service (waitress staff) is ok. The price is exceptional. Unfortunately, the prices at other hotels are also exceptional with less hassle for what seem to be simple comfort requests (extra towels & 24hr/d air conditioning).

Absolutely fantastic. I will surely return!
by Mariam from Karachi, Pakistan, 13 Jul 05
Couldn't have asked for better - Was a little apprehensive having read some unfavorable reviews on the Internet, but was thrilled when I got there. Everything, from the view of the ocean and the hills to the beach itself, the location (not quite in the heart of Chaweng Beach, but close enough to have easy access at any time of day or night), the service, the price, the food, drinks, the independent bungalows....Chaweng Cove Resotel is the most charming place to stay.
