6 of us stayed here and we all agreed that we would still stay here if we do come again.

by Isabella from HongKong+Taiwan, 14 Feb 06

Stayed for 5 nights. This hotel is really value for money. Great location for cheap bargain hotel, and the rooms are clean enough but room service is extremely slow (however they still serve with a smile except the reception) and no pool but got the beach (a bit shallow but can walk a little further). Can rent scooters with the hotel and book tours, just across the road you have the supermarket and pharmacy with lots of restaurants nearby. And just 10 mins away from the airport. If you are looking for a clean, convenient, and cheap accommodation, this is it!

Recommended good value for money.

by Jacqui Ward from London, United Kingdom, 14 Feb 06

Comfortable rooms set within beautiful well kept gardens, rolling straight onto the beach. Great breakfast included. Clean rooms, linen seemed to be clean but was a little musty. Staff helpful and friendly.

Very nice hotel

by Martina from Hamburg/Germany, 15 Feb 06

Had a garden bungalow - very nice and clean. Excellent breakfast buffet, very friendly and helpful staff.

We were only disappointed with Chaweng/Samui itself, because it changed too much since our last visit 11 years ago - koh phangan is definitely the better address.

Recommended if u love the beach

by Connie from BKK, Thailand, 18 Apr 06

Overall is fair. You get what you give! Room is clean, but the bathroom renovation is needed, especially on shower. Reception is absolutely awesome! They are kind and helpful.

Good

by Robert Wood, 11 Jun 06

Very nice & quiet location if a little far from the best part of the beach. Rooms very nice, comfortably furnished & spacious. No problem using the mini-fridge for your own food & drinks. Breakfast buffet was fine.

Overall better value than most along this stretch of Chaweng. Our only real gripe was housekeeping keep forgetting to replenish the water & having to call reception for this. Would definitely consider staying there again.

Not sure if want to go back

by Tena from WA, USA, 19 Aug 06

We stayed there for 7 nights. Reception is not helpful. We would have moved out if we did not make the advance payment. Room is just a OK. Location is good.

The bungalow room is smaller than the deluxe room. However, deluxe room bathroom very smells as the roof connects to other rooms. if someone goes to the toilet and you turn on the fan in the bathroom, you will get the unpleasant smell.

You can get a good price for the boat to full moon party or tour trips with the hotel, but the coordinating tour company is not professional and the management very unorganized.

Breakfast never gets ready at 6.30 am. as it mentions in the coupon. Staffs don't put much afford of better service.

Beats the five star hotels any day

by Judi Burleigh from Australia, 31 Aug 06

We've stayed at hotels & resorts around the world, from no star to six stars and The Island Resort is great value. The big news is that they've now got a swimming pool, which is clean and new. The seaview bungalows now actually have seaviews and the other garden bungalows are comfortable with good air conditioning. Some of the bathrooms could do with a refreshment but the staff are quick to respond to any problems. The breakfasts are fantastic: endless supplies of fresh fruit & selection of Asian, European and American breakfast options -all cheerfully served and generous.

On our return to Bangkok, we stayed at one of the world's 'best' hotels at huge expense. Our conclusion is that, after The Island Resort, it just didn't measure up. This was our third stay at the Island Resort and we'd definitely book there again.

Value

by Anonymous User from Australia, 11 Sep 06

The place is cheap and cheerful and good value for money. This is not an upmarket resort, but well positioned. If you are looking for somewhere that is not going to break the bank, this is the place. But, if you want a luxury resort stay next door at the Regent.

by Andreas L?fqvist from Sweden, 8 Mar 07

We just loved this hotel. A wonderful garden, nice pool area and a beautiful beach. Good location near supermarket, restaurants and shopping! Couldn't be better for this price! And the breakfast, they had everything ... fruits, omelets, Thai Food, crossiants ...! Choose the deluxe bungalow they are perfect! We'll be back!

Had a great stay

by Annonymous User from New Zealand, 27 Apr 07

Booked both a twin and a double standard bungalow. Both were better than expected, although the double was larger. Very good breakfast and staff were always polite. Lovely pool. There is a shortage of sun loungers by the pool and on the beach, however the hotel is owned by the same people that own Al's Hut and Al's Resort and you can walk down the beach were the swimming is better and use their chairs and pool. The Island resort was good value for money. We would be happy to stay there again.
