My recommendation for Ao Nang / Krabi.

If it has to be Ao Nang / Krabi this is definitely one of two excellent places there to stay (longer than one night). It is quiet (dead end road), has a nice large garden and an excellent open-air restaurant. Only 5 minutes from the shops and restaurants and the crowds. A minor weak point is that the beach is across the road and public and limited in size.
