Too isolated for us!
by Gareth Davies from Aberdeen, Scotland, 17 Jan 06
First impressions not good at all when we arrived as the reception area does not look very appealing, and the staff who are on reception most of the time were quite awful. The most unfriendly Thais we encountered on our whole 3 weeks in Thailand, plus didn't help that they'd an extremely poor grasp of English.
The room was quite nice (though a bit dated) but our biggest problem was the location and the poor beach. If you are looking for somewhere very quiet, or are happy to just use your hotel's facilities it will be OK, but we like to have a choice of restaurants or bars in the evening and this hotel is really in the middle of nowhere - and not walkable at night to anything worthwhile nearby. Food in the hotel restaurant was of a good selection and standard, and the staff in the restaurant were very friendly. Cocktails were a bit of a joke though, watered down and tasteless.
We were also very disappointed in the beach in front of the hotel, as it is very stony, and to make matters worse the pool had a layer of "scum" on it! OK, "scum" may not be accurate, but there were strange looking bubbles on the surface. Perhaps they just got the chemicals wrong, but it was certainly very off-putting!
We had planned to stay 4 nights in this hotel, but did not like the quiet/isolated location, so moved after two nights up north to Klong Dao beach which we found a much better location as there is a much greater choice of bars and restaurants, and the beach is far nicer. Long Beach also looked very good. It appeared to us that resorts south of those beaches were considerably quieter and isolated.

Not quite a palace, but certainly comfortable!
by Kaythi Thinn from London, 5 Dec 06
Enjoyed my stay in this charming bungalow complex complete with pool. The sea-view bungalow was sweet. Bathroom not the prettiest, but functional. Water supply ran out during the mornings on a couple of occasions, so couldn't have shower.
Staff friendly, spoke good English (compared to other resorts) and were very helpful. Right on the beach and near a pier where you can get boats for various trips. Would get bored just staying there so expect to pay 200-300 baht to get to Long Beach or the Old Town by taxi - some try to rip you off. Restaurant was very good with typical Thai fare as well as pasta, pizza and burgers. Family friendly. Would recommend it and stay there again.
