Nice Place to Stay

by David from Tokyo, 24 Aug 05

The rooms are nice with a lovely balcony view of the sea. The outdoor shower is nice. Satellite tv was a nice touch. Only complaint is that it is a bit far from the village.

Good value in off season

by Steve G. from Australia, 11 Jan 06

This was pretty much as expected. Would be very good value and highly recommend in the off season (when much cheaper). But I went in the peak season and paid about 3 times normal price.

Although it is about 15 minutes walk from the pier the staff were very friendly, carrying our bags on the trolley all the way, and my girlfriend also got a free ride on the trolley!

The room was pretty good - nice bed, balcony with reasonable view of the bay, and the outdoor shower is a nice touch, especially in the middle of the day after going for a swim.

The restaurant was OK for meals from the menu, but the buffet breakfast and lunch was ordinary. Better to take the short walking to the town and eat some real good Thai food (e.g. Papaya restaurant, Banyan Villa restaurant). I wasn't a big fan of Phi Phi itself, but for a place to stay, the Viewpoint is OK.

Great view!!

by Anonymous User from Singapore, 30 Dec 05

After spending 4 days on Phi Phi just before Christmas 2005 I would have to say that this place is the best compared to what the Phi Phi Tonsai area has to offer. The view from the rooms is great if you get the beach front bungalow.

The rooms are fine but this is Phi Phi, so you usually have to pay a lot more than in Bangkok. I thought it was nice to be about a 5 min walk from the town, as you can get away from the noise. The beach is right at your door step, and it is the only hotel with a swimming pool right by the beach. I would stay here again.

Great location and good value for money

by Louise from Sydney, Australia, 6 Jan 07

The Viewpoint is located right on the bay and has great views - we had a deck with deckchair that looked out over some gardens (wild) and the water.

It is not located right in the thick of things in the middle of town - which suited us really well. If we did want to walk in to town it was only a very easy 10 minute walk which was absolutely fine.

When we arrived on the ferry, a guy from the Viewpoint came and greeted us and carried our luggage to the resort. This was great!

The restaurant at the Viewpoint has interesting 'service' - in that you really have to get their attention for them to come and serve you. But that aside, for breakfast every morning we had the banana pancakes and a fruit shake and it was awesome! Just thinking about those pancakes now makes me want them right now...

We had a luxury villa right down on the water and the room was pretty good. The shower water pressure wasn't fantastic and the bed was a little hard, but the room was large and clean. I think that our perspective may have been a little tainted because we had stayed at much more expensive resorts for the rest of our stay and decided to stay at somewhere which was less expensive for 4 nights in the Viewpoint.

So overall, for the money that we paid, the room was pretty good (large and clean with great views over the bay), the breakfasts were fantastic (mmm - banana pancakes...), and the location was excellent (not in the middle of town but a very easy walk to everywhere you would want to go)!

We will get back

by Flemming R. Petersen from Helsinge, Denmark, 12 Dec 06

Here is the best view of the northern bay, and you will love it, if you like peace and quiet. There is rooms with A/C near the water, and room's with fan's at the hill site.

Not a bad choice

by MAGGIE from CHINA, 21 Oct 06

Good service, good room and breakfast. The outside swimming poor just next to the sea. It is so beautiful. Moreover, the massage place is a glass building on the hill facing the sea. It is fantastic and relax able.

But the location is not really convenient, it takes 15 minutes to the market where are lots shops and restaurants.

Must be new owners

by Many travels from San Francisco, 11 Dec 07

This was our most expensive booking on a 3 wk trip to Thailand and one of the worst booked. I booked the seaview with deck. There are about 4 rooms in this category. The first is next to the pool and there is a table with chairs right next to the room. We were in the second I believe it was room D42? The view was obstructed 40% by plants that needed to be cut. The bed was as hard as a rock. There was only one towel per person and that was to be used for everything. The sink had a push on which lasted for about 2 seconds. There is a bar very close by that plays terrible ear splitting music and it went till 3:00 a.m. We checked out. I paid $150/night for this! And, the place was maybe 25% full. This was December, high season. The people working there were nice.
