Nice people, great view, sub standard facilities
by Kristy from Sydney, 29 Nov 06
This hotel was by no means ready to open when we stayed (Nov 17th 2006) and I don't think they should have accepted on line bookings just yet - this is assuming that the inconveniences I experienced were due to them not being prepared properly. The staff were really lovely and it certainly isn't their fault that the owners started trading too early.
We paid $250.00 AU per night and for that we were given breakfast and dinner (very good food) and a fabulous view.
We were NOT given pretty basic comforts that you would expect at this price. No room safe, and not even a hotel safe so we had to carry all of our valuables with us. There were no tea and coffee facilities in the room but there were coffee cups (go figure). There was a room refrigerator but no mini bar contents until the day we left.
The hotel provided sun beds by the pool but no beach towels or umbrella shade for the sun beds. The pool was pretty small and one of those fiberglasses fit in that feel like plastic under your feet.
The restaurant was not yet open so we were set up for meals on the grass by the pool - nicely set but not very professional.
There was no hotel bar so we had to go to a neighboring hotel each evening for entertainment. The TV reception was not hooked up so DVDs on loan from the hotel were the only option. No internet facilities for guests and the level of housekeeping was substandard - the bath towels didn't match, no floor mat to stand on. I think that's it. Oh, and 1,200 baht per person to pick you up from the boat jetty.
