Royal Lanta Resort Krabi Reviews & Ratings

We stayed at the Royal Lanta Resort in August, which is rainy season in most parts of Thailand. At this particular beach, rain was not an issue but wind was fierce. All beach-front resorts shield themselves with huge plastic sheets, so forget about sea view.

The resort was half-empty and the staff was taking it easy: no bar at the pool, no sweeping after the occasional tropical storm, no checking on the number of sunbeds available at the pool (sometimes there were less chairs than guests). Rooms are large and surprisingly free from mosquitoes, but they have no telephone or bathroom amenities.

The restaurant is uninspiring to say the least. On the plus side, it is a great place for children, the beach is wide and very safe (apart from some stray dogs), and it is generally a very quiet and peaceful place.

Our reservation with AtSiam.com worked out fine, after charging us the standard rate for the car transfer they called to offer a better rate and we got the difference refunded.

We had a fab time at the Royal Lanta. It is close to Saladaan where all the dive shops are. There is a small mini mart just up the road and the beach location is also perfect. It is quiet resort, set in a nice garden. The food was very good, although there is plenty of choice along the beach ... The only thing we didn't like were the outdoor showers ... they definitely need some TLC.

Royal Lanta is an excellent hotel, in a good location. The food in the restaurant is reasonably priced and the staff are excellent. The only down side is the price is the spa treatments. A Thai massage is four times the price of getting one done just down the beach but other than this i couldn't fault the hotel and will be back next year.
