Southern Lanta Resort Krabi

We have had the newest beach bungalow for 1850 baht a night. It is not really 4 stars - but ok for this money - in the high season they want 4,000 baht - that is def. to much.

Pretty good location at the beach - Restaurant could be better and breakfast is a little boring after a couple of days. Beach and pool a good for kids - and there are a lot of kids.

Over all is Koh Lanta quiet and more expansive than Ao Nang or Koh Samui.

There is no good hospital on Koh Lanta - for that you have to go to Phuket.

Moved here from a hotel in Klong Nin beach as we found it to be too quiet/isolated there. The Southern Lanta is perfectly located right in middle of Klong Dao beach, which is a beautiful beach - flat, nice sand, no stones, and beautiful clear shallow sea water - lovely to swim in. We stayed here for 2 nights at end of December 2005.

Staff very friendly, breakfasts good, and beautiful pagoda type open platforms outside for relaxing massages. Didn't use their bar or restaurant otherwise as we found some really nice bars and restaurants on the beach only 5 mins walk away in the evenings.

Only disappointment was the rooms. They are large and very clean but badly in need of redecoration as the walls look dirty and damp (maybe they were damaged in the Tsunami, but if so they surely could have been repainted a year later!).
