Great location but overpriced
by Barry M. Davies from British Columbia, Canada, 5 May 08
The location is great if you want to be away from it all and we did. The beach is excellent but the overall cost is too high for the quality of the resort. The food service is terrible- both breakfast and room service.

We will back!
by Liang from China, 20 Feb 06
Big room and good facility in the rest room, very clean and comfortable. we will come back again when we will be PP island next time. That's a very good place for a family stay. Very quite and relax.
The only issue is about the extra bed, it's too soft.

Don't expect too much
by Maire Bain from Levin, New Zealand, 27 Feb 07
Phi Phi Island itself is absolutely magical; this being my second trip. The main strip (shopping/nightlife etc) of Phi Phi is on the opposite side of the island to where Erawan Resort is located. I'm all for avoiding the masses as long as where you are can cater for all your requirements and you don't feel the need to venture out.
We chose Erawan as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Village Island Resort (5km coastal walk or 300Baht daytime/600Baht night-time long tail boat ride away) but as we were on NZ$ couldn't afford the luxury of Village Island with the other guests. However, once you tally up the additional costs of needing to catch a boat anywhere, it probably would have equalled out.
Village Island Resort is the kind of place you could happily be for a few days to a week, as the quality of rooms, pool, restaurants etc accommodated enough variety and comfort that you felt you didn't need to leave that resort.
However, Erawan Palms, being slightly more budget, really couldn't compare and if we hadn't had our friends at nearby Village Island Resort to visit (and take advantage of their brilliant facilities), I think I would have been disappointed if Erawan was the be all and end all of our trip.
The pool is small, the restaurant basic (very uninspiring food), the walls paper thin, and no hot water (which isn't so bad as the weather is always warm so you're never hankering after a hot shower anyway).
Thai people are lovely so you could never fault the personable service you receive. However, this resort just didn't have enough for friendliness alone to satisfy our requirements.
My recommendation would be, stump up the extra cash and stay at Village Island. But also make sure you enjoy the other side of the island too - maybe book a few nights over there also.

Half way to paradise
by MASSIMILIANO from switzerland, 23 Apr 07
The location is Superb if you are looking for beach and relax. Only 4 small hotels in this area. Excellent possibilities for snorkeling and diving. The swimming pool is not very large but just located by the beach!
Next time we will go back!

by CUNLIN MA from Sichuan, China, 21 Mar 08
Breakfast is average, not good nor bad. In the room I can't see beautiful view sight but the plants is beautiful in the hotel. Sand is not so thin and the food around is a little expensive.
