It's a question of money

by Bernd Wellnitz from Germany, 4 Jun 08

The Value for the money was acceptable but I would pay no more for this kind of room ( bungalow ). Our bungalow was one of the oldest in this area and near a building who is under construction. A little bit more cleanness was desirable.

About easter the staff have problems to bring enough plates and cutlery for breakfast but it was often empty. They have the same problem to fill up the food. So sometimes you must wait a half hour to get a free desk and something to drink. The furniture in the breakfast room was old partly unusable.

Comfortable Stay

by Anonymous user from USA, 20 Mar 08

A convenient location-in Ao Nang town but set back for privacy. The rooms were well-kept and comfortable. Breakfast included decent variety. Price is good for quality. Thanks for a nice stay!

Good value!

by Therese Westerdahl from Sweden, 23 Feb 08

Nice bungalows in a tropical setting, feels lika living in the middle of the rain forest, really cool! But be aware, it´s quite a climb up the hill! The setting around the pool area is very nice, breakfast and the location ok, takes about 5-10 minutes to get to the shops/beach/longtail boats. The beach in Ao Nang is no good, make sure to take a longtail boat to the islands outside Ao Nang!

Great resort

by Jodi from South Africa, 21 Jan 08

Great hotel, great location, clean, very attentive staff. We had a problem with half the electricity points going out in our room, but this was attended to timeously by the staff. Would definitely go back!

Staff

by irwing johnsson from Sweden, 3 Apr 07

First of all i wanna say this hotel have not professional staff. One day is like that and a another is like another thing. I book and stay 3 days and when i shall pay for 3 days. They say 3 different prices. I tell them to tell me what prices and they say again different. I don't believe this staff anymore and never gonna stay here again. They must do something about they staff. Location is OK. And the room so so.

I not recommend this hotel. I looked around and saw many better hotel around.

Not so great for Asians. Felt discriminated, especially at the restaurant.

by ST from Singapore, 4 Jan 07

We stayed at Tipa Resort during X'mas of 2006. Overall, the stay was great and we would certainly be glad to return to the Resort at our next visit. We just have to avoid eating there!

There are some irks that we would like to highlight. While the reception staff was fabulous, staff at the restaurant left much to be desired. Except for one really kind lady at the restaurant, we felt totally discriminated at the restaurant. Caucasians were clearly favored and Asians were totally ignored. One particular gentleman at the restaurant was most obvious in the discrimination. He joked, talked and laughed with Caucasians and were rude when serving us.

During the X'mas dinner, Asians were also clearly forgotten. The Masters of Ceremony were all so engaged in only addressing their European guests.

We will not go back!

by Steven Leung from Hong Kong, 4 Sep 06

The english standard for the staff should be improved. Mostly the staff didn't understand our enquiry or request at all even we expressed ourselves in gestures.

The bellboy is helpful to carry the luggage along the difficult and harsh hillside.
The food quality of the restaurant was quite unacceptable and lack of choices, it was out of our expectation and poor value for money.

Satisfied, but will look for something a bit better.

by SF from USA, 5 Apr 06

Great place for families - not for couples looking for quiet/romantic getaway. Pickup at airport was wonderful - no one seems to expect tips and is thrilled to get one. Breakfast was lukewardm. Rooms were spacious. Pool area quite small - if there are loud people or kids it's not peaceful. The grounds are lovely - lots of nature. Easy, convenient location.

I felt it was a bit expensive for what we got. We paid around $80, I felt like $50-$60 would have been more appropriate.

Not impressed or let-down - Look warm

by Kitty from expat - Qatar, 1 Apr 06

Tipa grounds are lovely. If you don't have kids or don't want to be surrounded by them, this isn't the place for you - if you are a family with kids, you'll probably love it. Many Scandinavians who seems to forget they need to adapt to new culture - letting kids run around naked at pool while Thais are VERY shy and modest. Mattresses are very hard - not a problem for me, but might be for you. Breakfast OK, except eggs "pre-cooked" (omelettes & fried), so rubbery and cold. Staff is very gracious. Walking paths could be swept daily. It was a fine place, but I expected to be a bit more "wowed" for the price we paid.

Good value

by Henner from Bonn, Germany, 24 Mar 06

A nice family hotel, but still quiet. Ground floor room are a bit dark. Breakfast: nothing fancy - meals could be warmer. Location isn't great, uphill in a quiet street, about 400m to the beach, restaurants and a small supermarket nearby.
