Tonsai Bay Resort Reviews & Ratings

We arrived here over peak season in early January. The resort must have recently opened a whole series of new cottages since the first set. These new cottages are set on land resembling a building site. It would appear that this is the problem. These cottages are not actually ready for occupation but in a peak season rush to make the most of the season, tourists are paying for very substandard accommodation at higher rates then any other place on Tonsai Beach. A group of 4, both our bungalows had no hot water on either day of stay. We complained about this and a maintenance man was sent to have a look but with no positive outcome. It materialized later that the geyser's element had been taken out and a new one been sent for which would take 6 weeks. This is just laughable that over peak season no alternative arrangement is made and that bungalows are still being rented out under false pretenses. No compensation was made for this oversight. Note that it was an entire row of cottages that had no hot water, not only our 2. Otherwise, on arrival the cottages were far from clean. Both cottages had toilet leaks resulting in a continuous pool around the toilet and a corresponding damp stink. Standard fittings like bathroom mirrors and bedside tables and lights were missing because as previously noted, these cottages are simply not ready for occupation. On a positive note, some members of the staff were very friendly. Having spent our holiday staying in basic budget accommodation, we pushed the boat out a bit to stay at Tonsai Bay Resort, with the promise of hot showers being a major incentive. We couldn't have been more disappointed with the standard of this resort.
