After some research online, which I always do before a trip, I decided to stay at Tropical Herbal Spa & Resort. True enough it was exactly like what other has rated it - cosy, relaxing, romantic hence suitable for couple, but not near to the beach.
Cosy, Relaxing
The resort is built on a small hill back on a forest. If you drive/cab on the road, you have to take extra attention of its road sign, otherwise you may just miss it; the front entrance is not grand and will definitely not catch your eyes. Having said that, we were totally impressed after we stepped into the resort itself. It has a Thai style architecture using mainly wood as the structure, echo with its spa resort theme. There are only 9 villas in total with a lot of space outdoor, giving you a feeling of exclusiveness. The villa adopted an open concept design, the walls are short and it is surrounded by bushes and plants; we were very cautious when we took bath on the first day, subsequently however the open concept gives us a feeling of 'freedom' if you know what I mean… we were actually enjoying it.
Romantic
Tropical Herbal Spa & Resort is definitely suitable for couples - tidy, cosy and sweet (they have flowers decorated on the bed on the first day). However the room is not big enough for a family. The receptionists are very attentive and friendly. Special mention to this lady "Wan" who has been very helpful throughout our stay in Krabi. It was actually our anniversary trip, and I wanted to arrange some surprise for my gf. Wan was very cooperative and gave me a lot of help and advise, in fact they actually arranged everything for us! The atmosphere was especially nice during the night- the orange lighting, gardens and peacefulness as it is distance away from the main beach/market.
Not near to the beach
As plain as that, it is not near to the beach. We did try to walk back one nite, it nearly took us 20 mins to get back; luckily there were shops along the street so it wasn't too bad. The resort provide transport from there to the beach, but you have to get back by yourself. I will recommend you to rent a motorbike which cost 200 baht a day~ reasonable and convenient.
