Will go back !
by Regina Tan Ling Ying from Terengganu, Malaysia, 12 Mar 08
You can walk to the nearby restaurant, massage centres, shopping stalls outside the resort. If you feel tired or lazy to walk back you can easily get Tuk-tuk and only pay 40 to 60 baths back to the resort from Aonang beach.
We love the open air bathroom very much which is very suitable for honeymoon couple. You can always request the hotel to prepare the floral bath in your room.
The only sad news is they are having building extension now until the end of 2008 year, so it spoiled by construction noise during the daytime, but the noise will stop at 7.00pm. If you are planning for outing trip during daytime is not much affected.
Anyhow, please try to choose the villa which located at right side of the resort will much better (villa 2 to 5) for timebeing. Because the construction building is located at the left side the resort.
Please do try their spa and massages ! it is good ! The service of the hotel staff is excellent ! We appreciated their helpful and service that extended to us. It is a wonderful resort that can give you relax and pleasant holiday.

We stay in this resort only 15 minutes
by raffaella pesciallo from genova, Italy, 3 Feb 08
The bathroom is outside from the room without the door or stretches. We have changed resort and we have gone in center because for us the resort is not romantic but only old.

Nice stay! :)
by Maurer H. from Vienna, Austria, 12 Feb 08
The staff was very helpful and friendly and so we enjoy our stay very much! Thanks! In the moment there is a lot next to the hotel but was not so bad. Breakfast is Ok but would be nice if there is more choice.

Worth giving a try!
by SF from Singapore, 12 Mar 06
However, the price was a bit steep and the location is very far from the beach. The Herbal bath that they offer is chargeable which is not stated on the sign that sticked in the bathroom. These are the 2bad points. Other than that the rest are pretty fantastic.

We'll be going back.... with friends!
by kelvin wang from Singapore, 16 May 06
The villa was one with nature. Every view point from within the villa were accentuated by trees, flowers and limestone cliffs which masked all signs of human life. We were constantly romanced by sounds of crickets, cicadas, frogs and the occasional nightjar (nocturnal bird). I truly enjoyed the serenity and privacy of large outdoor bathroom and balcony. The only drawback of being shrouded by nature was the constant presence of insects which I found tolerable. I forgot about them after spending a day there.
The spa was excellent and follows the same theme echoed throughout the resort - Natural healing. No massages behind closed doors here. Advance booking is a must as their spa is more popular than their resort.
The icing on the cake is the excellent and attentive service of the staff. We walked in on a hot afternoon and were immediately presented with cold towels, cold drinks and herbal tea. We return to the resort at night and a guard will follow behind us discreetly while lighting our path with a torch. On hearing about our early morning flight, 2 staff waited outside our villa to help us with our luggage. Though breakfast begins at 730am, kitchen staff woke up early to prepare and pack club sandwiches, fresh fruits and water for our journey to the airport.
I've been to a few spa resorts costing many times more than this and have never felt so pampered and relaxed. I'll gladly sacrifice designer finishing anytime for a resort as private, as spacious and as holistic as this one.

Minor quibbles, but this is one that we will definitely return to.
by Anonymous User from Singapore, 17 Jul 06
Above all, this resort is good value for money; similar accommodation in popular beach destinations in Thailand could cost almost twice as much.
The villas are all (as far as we can see) thoughtfully laid out and individually designed to take advantage of the site in order to create a small world unto itself, utilising level differences, screens and landscaping to ensure privacy.
Service cannot be faulted although the staff does not come across as being very 'professional' in the strict sense but we find that it adds to the relaxed and friendly atmosphere (and therefore a strong point)---we eagerly look forward to returning to the resort after a day of island hopping, almost like going 'home', that says something about the service environment.
The food at the resort restaurant was also surprisingly good and exceeded our expectations (we only had Thai food and did not sample the international offerings).
Lastly the spa service was very competent and well done (we had the royal Thai massage course, in a very tranquil and natural setting.
Dislikes:
Location is almost 1 km away from the beach, but the hotel offers free taxi service. The distance also means you don't get sea view from any of the rooms, to be fair the hotel never advertised any sea view.
Our reservation mix up was a bit of a damper but all is quickly forgiven as they made up for it by offering us the Grand Villa for the rate of our original Deluxe. (Although I guess I would still have preferred my original choice of villa)
There was a lack of hot water in our villa which was only rectified shortly before check-out. The 2-person bath was not as clean as we had hoped due to persistence of falling leaves and dirt; this problem could be avoided with a bit more maintenance in the bathroom and making sure tree branches do not hang right over the tub.
Other minor issues include the rather limited American breakfast and the design of the lighting at night which makes it difficult to see the pathways.

Pretty villas, beautiful grounds, and a *lot* of stairs!
by Christine Kikuchi from Tokyo, 17 Jan 07
The bedroom is pretty but quite small. It has a big TV (if you like TV, this is good), but I would prefer more space to put my suitcase. With the suitcases on the floor, there was not a whole lot of walking around space.
We were at the top of the resort and the top is way up there! It was depressing to have to walk up so many stairs and I found myself trying to not go to my room whenever possible. There are some villas closer to flatter land that would be much better. The place describes their outdoor shower, but does not tell you that workmen can and do walk by that open shower. This is not romantic - it is creepy. They also do not mention that the toilet and sink are also pretty open. You are given a screen to move in front of the toilet. To get to your toilet, shower, or sink, you have to do down some stairs from your bedroom. This is not fun at night. In case you are thinking, Oh I am young so this would not bother me - think again. We are young and it was a chore!
The spa is, I think, the most expensive one in Krabi. They wanted 1,500 baht for an oil massage. To give you an idea of how expensive that is, I found a nice place in town that was private and clean that gave me massages for 300 baht. However, I was willing to pay the outrageous sum on my last night as a sort of last blowout. However, they refused to do the massage in my room and I was unwilling to have a relaxing massage and then have to climb and climb and climb up to my room.
My overall experience was o.k. If I could have rented the bigger villa that was close to the pool, I am sure I would look at this place in a much better light.
Krabi itself is pretty horrible. It is far more expensive than other places in Thailand and not half as pretty. I would never go back there. I think the trick is to fly into Krabi and immediately take a boat to one of the islands to stay. You do need to get inland to go to the hot stream which is amazing and also take a boat to go diving or snorkeling.
