Good, but has unused potential
by Craig Headman from CA, United States, 13 Mar 08
I knew that the hotel was outside town....our hostess picked us up at the bus station, and drove us to the resort. She said 2 kilometers, but I think it was more like 3 or 4. At any rate, you can walk it, and it is fairly pleasant to do so....about 20 minutes. No need to do it with luggage, as she will meet you at the bus or at the small airport. We rented a motorbike for our stay, very cheaply in town, which allowed us to visit the hot springs which are about 10 minutes drive south of town,
The resort is small, and was very quiet in March. The restaurant was functioning for a good American or Asian breakfast (your choice, served, not buffet). If you wanted to have dinner, you needed to request it in the morning. I don't think you need to do this in high season.
Our room was very comfortable, with a nice large bed (queen I think), a good bathroom with large shower box but no curtain, a TV, refrigerator, good air conditioning, and a nice terrace overlooking the river. We were in the cottage room type....there are 3 similar rooms together in one cottage block...rather like a triplex. Since we had no neighbors, I cannot comment on noise levels. The villa room type is bigger and does not have a common wall with a neighbor.
My only complaint is that their is no furniture on the terrace. It would be quite pleasant to sit outside with a drink or a book...you are facing the sunset and the river. I dragged the wooden stool from the room outside, but it really wasn't comfortable. My companion used his laptop sitting on the wooden slats of the terrace, but then he is younger and much more flexible than I am.
I might stay here again, but a pool would be a nice addition as well. I'll have to wait and see what the situation is when I am ready to go back.
