Great hotel

by Anthony Campbell from Australia, 26 Oct 06

A group of us stayed at the Areca for several weeks in Oct 06 and found the Hotel first class. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The manageress Nancy was on hand to assist with any enquiry and was more than helpful. The rooms are great and the cleaning of them was first class. Breakfast was good with a fair variety offered.

The hotel is in a good position with several bars and Mikes shopping mall near by. I recommend this hotel very highly and will be staying there again and again.

I will return

by Peter Russell Humphreys-Grey from Melbourne Australia., 30 Oct 06

Yet again I will say that this is the best value for money in Pattaya, Nancy and her staff can't do enough for you. You are greeted at all times with a smile.

Good hotel

by PASI KOSKINEN from Finland, 5 Nov 06

All was good staff, service and all was ok. Only one was what I thinking is that early golf player and breakfast. Breakfast buffet open 7:00 AM and many player start hotel early. If buffet can start about 6.00-6.30 AM, it will be execellent.

Top Marks Areca Lodge

by Andy from Leicester, UK, 26 Nov 06

Staff very pleasant and helpful, room was cleaned and sheets changed daily. The Corona swimming pool was excellent and service was great too. There was no joiner fee which I thought was great also. In fact if I had any thing to say bad about this hotel was that it had the slowest lift I have ever been in. But Thailand is a really laid back place and it comes eventually. I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Would rcommend this hotel to all

by Donna Holland from Wigan, Lancs, England, 20 Jan 07

This hotel is the best for its price in Pattaya. we would recommend this hotel to all. we stayed for the 2nd time in Dec 06 until middle of Jan 07. The staff are great and are very friendly (Nancy is fantastic and speaks excellent English) the pools are big and there is enough sunbeds to go around, there are towels provided so don't pack any save the baggage allowance.

The hotel is central to Pattaya it is easy walking distance to north and south Pattaya although Tuk Tuks are easy to catch and are cheap at 10Baht. Walking street is about 10 mins walk and is worth a walk up. If you like rock music then I would recommend the Hot Tuna Bar on walking street. If you like sport then the premiership bar is great to and the staff are good and friendly.

I can honestly say that the Areaca lodge is one of the best hotels I have been in and we have stayed in some good hotels all over the world but this is excellent, excellent, excellent.

Until Next Time.

by Peter Russell Humphreys-Grey from Victoria Australia, 8 Feb 07

Can't say enough about the place the staff are very friendly and cannot do enough for you. The food is priced very reasonable and very good unlike other hotels. I stay there every time I am in Pattaya and that will not change.

A great place to relax and chill out!

by Teo Choon Hon from Singapore, 21 Feb 07

Good points: Rooms are spacious and clean. Deluxe rooms come with coffee/tea-making facilities which is great for guests after a long day of tanning, beach activities and shopping. The two swimming pools are fantastic and so is the Ban Mai restaurant which serves delicious local fare as well as continental meals.

Room for improvement: Should have a hairdryer in every room. Should install one more lift in each building (Areca and Corona) as waiting for lift can take quite some time during peak periods (checking-in/out). Breakfast should start half an hour earlier at 6.30am as some guests may need to catch the morning flight out and therefore do not have the time to wait till 7am (official breakfast starting time).

Please don't drag me back there again!

by Rickfarang from Udon Thani, 16 Mar 07

Where should I start?
1. The people at the front desk were helpful.

2. The maid woke me up from a desperately needed nap, in spite of the "Do Not Disturb" sign on the door, so she could give me my brother's and my laundry. Why couldn't she deliver them to my brother's room next door? He didn't have a sign out. The sign was in both Thai and English, and I must assume that, working in a hotel, she had seen one before and that somebody might have explained it to her.

3. The breakfast buffet had nothing for someone who is vegetarian, save a piece of dry toast and a splash of coffee when you could get it. I wound up eating breakfast across the street.

4. My room was above the dining room, and music wafter up through the floors all day, starting with when they opened for breakfast. The sound of heavy iron chairs being dragged over the dining room floor was quite loud, meaning that I awoke when they started serving breakfast, whether I wanted to or not.

5. The room was supposed to be a deluxe room, but apparently all they did was bolt two twin beds together (can't sleep well with a gap the size of the Grand Canyon in the middle of the mattress!), and add a tray with instant tea and coffee - nothing like the deluxe room I had two years ago.

The bed was pulled out from the wall because there was a single night table fastened to the wall. You had to walk around the bed to answer the phone.

The room, which was in the older building, was a disappointment, especially after paying the premium for a deluxe room.

6. The thermostat on the air conditioner seemed strange. By morning, the room would be freezing, regardless of where I set the thermostat, unless I turned if off.

7. There were copies of the Bangkok Post in the lobby.

Your experience may be different. If you stay there, I certainly hope you get a better room.

BEST HOTEL FOR PRICE IN AREA

by mick russell from uk, 25 Apr 07

Our third visit in just over a year still fantastic value, laid on excellent Songkran for guests. Only change since last visit is that rooms now have a safe in them so you no longer need to take a padlock for the safety deposit box. You are still required to leave a thousand Baht deposit on check in for the mini bar and room key but you will get a receipt and itemised bill when you leave.
