Will be back for sure.

by halleman from Europe, BE, 12 Apr 08

Did stay there for the 2nd time and will stay there again. Staff is good, service is good, all nice peoples, nothing is to much for them when asked. Location is excellent, Soi 6 nearby, Soi 2 nearby, and walking street 5 to 10 minutes by taxi.

But, most important, it is a silent hotel, one can sleep there. Almost no noise from beerbars, almost no traffic noise.
Although, some guests slamming with doors but, aren't such guests in very hotel?

Anyway i DID get my 8 hours of sleep a day with them and that's why I will go back.

While I was there, they were renovating some rooms, but not in the morning and not at night. Can't wait to see the result when renovating will be finished, will be a VERY nice place to stay.

The renovated rooms are spotless clean, and the swimming pool was that also, clean and cleaned every day.

Hope you all don't wanna go there, because if fully booked I will have to go somewhere else...;-(... and Carlton is the place I like.

Good hotel at fair price

by M from Netherlands, 14 Mar 08

Been here 15 years ago, back then several years in a row. Have good memories. good price, good service, nice location (not in the center but five minutes drive from the center), very near a quiet beach. Not top of the bill, but good, economical, no trouble, nice, easy. Stayed there over 3 months.

If I go to Pattaya again, I'll book this one
The only thing I remember 'bad': if you leave all the glasses, towels you left at the pool are charged without any question.

Going back soon

by john mac from scotland, 27 Feb 08

Have stayed for a good few times and find the staff very good. Always try and get a room on first floor overlooking the pool, also the maid I find very helpful if you need extra towels and pillows maybe the reason is because give her 100 Baht for doing this.

For the money YOU WILL NOT BEAT THIS HOTEL - GUARANTEED!

by aLLY from Scotland, 18 Oct 07

It makes me laugh all you guys running down a Hotel that costs 550 Baht a night!

Lets put it in our money terms UKĀ£8 or US$16 and you moan! LMAO.

For that money YOU WILL NOT BEAT THIS PLACE!

I have stayed there 6 times now, I admit the last year has seen a huge decline but they are now working to recover that. I noticed new tiling around the area, all the rooms now have new fridges and as I was leaving they took a shipment of personal room safes!

Yes the room are tired, yes the toilets are tired but for that money I don't expect the ritz!

I have stayed in the Sawadee hotels and you don't even get a bath, no swimming pool and the aircon in the Sawadee was a disgrace but cost the same as the Carlton!

As for insects, Thailand is a damn hot country, I tend to find asking the reception for spray or even go the the 7/11 and buy spray for 150 Baht!

COME ON GUYS this is a damn good budget hotel and the location is perfect.

A great little place to stay!

by CARL ANTHONY GREIER from JERSEY, United Kingdom, 10 Oct 07

Entrance to the hotel is very nice and picturesque. The swimming pool lovely and inviting.

The staff great and pleased to help and, if requested, room cleaned and clean bedding and towels provided every day.
The room itself was practical, but could do with a coat of brighter colored paint.
Everything fine and I will be back, but next time I will try one of the superior rooms with small balcony next to the swimming pool.

Will deffo return to my second home!

by mr dare from gloucestershire, United Kingdom, 9 Oct 07

The Carlton is only between 550-700 baht a night so you pretty much get what you expect really, I return to this hotel time and time again because of its ideal location to both soi 6 and walking street which is where 90 percent of male tourists would probably prefer to be! The rooms are basic but clean, and recently in October 2007 had electric safes fitted to each room, which is a bonus now because the safety deposit boxes behind reception looked like they were from the 1800s. The pool is regularly cleaned although they do go a little overbourd on the clorine! The restaurant is both cheap and serves up good food! The staff are friendly and as far as I can see in the 6 times I've stayed there trustworthy, just check your mini bar bill. The biggest advantage of this hotel is that if you decide to take a friend back at the end of the night, they don't charge you! Where as most hotels do. Never again

by eugene mcquaid from Ireland, 25 Sep 07

Air con cooling system not working complained about it they moved me to a different room which was full of damp, paint falling of the walls, shower not good, smell of dampness. I am a business man and was going to take friends there but not after my stay. Definitely not up to any type of standard.

Carlton Pattay Hotel - Don't do it!

by from Newcastle, 11 Sep 07

This hotel has gone massively downhill. Its an absolute shambles. I got over 100 ant bites to each leg one night when my bed was full of ants. The hotel new about this of course, but said they could do nothing about it. To many problems to list, needless to say, this hotel is cheap, but you'd be safer and cleaner sleeping in the street, and you would get better service. It was so bad I had to check out early in the end!

1ST Class, Cheap & Cheerfull, Well worth a visit!!

by Anthony Craig from Scotland, 10 Apr 07

I stayed at the Carlton Pattaya in late may 2006 for 2 weeks, I must admit on first viewing it I thought it was a bit dingy but on closer inspection I found it to be OK. The rooms were kept clean, the bar and restaurant provided cheap clean food and the staff were very helpful and friendly.

The hotel itself was a little dirty i have to admit and i was very unsure about the pool but overall i found it to be excellently placed, just 5 mins via baht bus to walking street where all the nightlife is. There was a great big arcade just up the road as well as a massive Tesco lotus. No overall i found the hotel and Pattaya itself a very enjoyable experience, one which i fully intend to do again.

Avoid unless you like grime

by Mark M from UK, 31 Jan 07

Not much to compliment the hotel on. The state of cleanliness was appalling. The whole hotel was just grotty and dingy from what we could see, most of the time the lights were turned off so we could hardly see anything! I certainly wouldn't want to return. Adding to this we overheard somebody at reception complaining that he had 500baht stolen from his room didn't help matters.
